Or do you see them in the same light as somebody you'd see on TV or hear on the radio.

I don't consider that I know any of you until I've met you.

If I've ever refered to anyone off a forum to somebody who isn't I've always quallified "somebody I know" with "off a forum" to diffarentiate between them & somebody I actually know.

The only person I know is: Rob (DJMaxtedo).

I also say "off that forum" if I havent met them in person when mentioning someone with something.

Interesting question.

It all depends on how you define "knowing" someone.

I voted for "No, I only know of you" However, I certainly don't see people on the forum in the same light as people I'd see or hear on TV or the radio, as I'm communicating & chatting with people on the forum.

Having said that, I don't consider I know someone just because I've met them once in the flesh.

It could also be argued that you don't REALLY know anyone unless you've lived with them, and I tend to subscribe to that way of thinking.

Since joining this forum, I've discovered that a fair number of people who've never met me clearly THINK they know me...when in reality they don't have a clue!

Difficult one to answer, really.

Whether you can claim to "know" someone from a forum depends on the level of interaction you've had with them, how often and in what level of detail they post etc..

There are some on here who I've never met but I think I "know" quite well, yet there are others who I HAVE met who I wouldn't consider "knowing".

On balance, meeting someone definitely helps, even if just for a short time.

I'd agree with that.

There's several people from the forum that I've spoken to regularly on the forum and on the phone. Although I've not "met them", I class them as friends and think I know them reasonably well.

I'm fairly easy going.....do I know you?
Judge of character is what you need here. IMO :)

I like to think I know Daz after spending my weekends at the towers over Christmas.
I also know Paul/Peter after spending time with these two....

I think I know - Shaun after a few 'really funny phone calls'....you would not believe what we talk about...

I think I also have some idea of Steve/Angela are like....

...but do I know them all well enough......only time will tell.

So far, the opinions I have formed about people I talk to on the forum haven't changed when I meet them in person: one or two people may be braver behind a keyboard (eg chatty online but a bit shy in person), but the core personality remains the same.

Do I really know anybody? Probably not (and that includes Steve :p ). Seriously, I doubt that we really know very many people during our entire lifetime.

I've spoken to a number of people on here on the phone. I also speak to some via Facebook as well. All of those people and they know who they are...I would class as decent people.

Of course, there is the other side of the coin too and I don't communicate with that side.

Ooooooh such a difficult question to answer.

All I can say is that I've formed opinions of many folk on here, and in pretty much every case, when I've met them they've turned out to be nicer folk and better friends than I could possibly have hoped for. I have not yet met anybody off here and had to revise my opinion of them for the worse. ( Even Rob!! :D :D :D )

I'll have to reread the options, and see if I can choose one.
Chosen. I appear to be modal.;) :D
