Vj Rear Screen Construction

Hi all,

I have now got me a short throw projector and some 4 way lycra material.

So I am half-way there.

I now want to make a frame that is easy enough to dismantle and put in the car.

I know some of you use a Goal-Post truss for the frame, but I want this to fit in a Pub Bar without looking overkill.

I don't know if there is such a thing as an adjustable width goal-post truss.

I did think about using two light stands and getting adjustable fibre poles attached top and botttom, allowing me to alter the width at will.

I was wondering if any of you have any ideas.

hi,

I am trying to do the some with my projector.

I was gonna use white plastic tubing. Make a square box then some feet on the bottom and then use some the little sand bags i got with my star cloth to hold it down.

You can get the pipe covers so it can take it down and slot the pipe back in to each other .. .

ID there is any other way please let me no lol

you can get 60" plasma TVs for £1340 now,,

is that worth considering instead of a projector and screen ???

or do what I do and use two 42" LCD screens....

I already use two 17" LCD's when I go out mobile - which is useful for karaoke etc....

But this has a dual purpose:

1. medium size pub - 6ft - 8ft projection screen
2. large event - 8ft - 10ft projection screen

It's for visual impact, must be light and portable, whereas lugging around a 60" plasma or two 42" LCD's in a car is a no go, with all the other mobile stuff I have to carry.

I did consider the pipe method, the only difficulty here is stability and looks. I havent discounted this one yet.

I am also considering gettting two tall light stands and attaching two lightweight rigid plastic poles across to form the frame - and having two sets of poles, each at different width for each type of event.

Actually I have two of the horizontal gantries, so I can set up at 1.5m, 3m, 4.5m or 6m width (3m is the most common) for my stretchy screens. Screens are attached using mini bungee cords with hooks bought from B&Q for £1.99 pack of 4. Usually I hook the top of the screen to the top of the gantry so it's invisible from the front.

The package above is 3m wide but the gantry section comes in two pieces, so dead easy to set up 1.5m wide - perfect for smaller venues.

I normally "lose" the extra two T bar lighting poles but they have come in handy occasionally for mounting wash LED PARs.

I do keep meaning to take some decent pics of my Cassandra Screens (:p ) but here's a quickie so you get the jist.

I've found that unless the screen is particularly taught, there's no need to have any bracing across the bottom of the framework.

yes I remember your post about this before and I couldn't remember if it was possible just to use half of the top section to make it smaller.

I take it from what your saying it is possible.

at £59 it's a no brainer really.
