Stupid things people say to you at gigs.

ive noticed a newish trend recently, where the drunk pushes a phone to your ear, and asks "have you got this" ??

its impossible to hear the track enough to identify it, as the the booming sound of a disco in full swing, drowns the tinny chav dance track into insignificance,
if you say what is it? you look like a fool -

so ive come up with....

"I can't hear it - perhaps if you sing it.."

then watch their faces change....it makes me laugh!!

Last weekend I had some guy come upto me and ask if I would stop using the smoke machine as his wife was pregnent and smoke can harm the baby.

I tried explaining that they are safe but he wouldnt have it. What got me is that they sat in the closest seat to the smoke machine even though there were plenty of other seats.


My other favorite is "You got any good music?" or "You got that song that goes do do dooo deee dee geee" with no musical sound lol

But how do you know it is harmless??
Your still breathing in a lot of 'smoke' which must contain some substances in - it is just water vapour now is it?

Also it doesn't really matter where they were sitting - if it was a close space the whole room would have had a good covering of smoke anyway?!

Well I was told that its harmless which is why you can use it, surly if it were unsafe you wouldnt be allowed to use it

Maybe so but I wouldn't go around making a claim that it is harmless to someone if I couldn't prove it.

Last time we used the smoke we got moaned at because it was effecting a couple of people with asthma. First complaint (apart from obviously avoiding places with fire alarms) ever about smoke.

It seems people are just getting more aware of stuff like this - probably since the smoking ban etc. We just have to respect what the customers want.

All smoke fluid is, is glycerine & water. It will not set off an asthma attack, or affect an unborn baby.

About all it will do is (after prolonged use) give you dry eyes & / or a dry throat as glycols tend to remove moisture from surrounding areas.

Steve's absolutely right. You can download a COSHH sheet from LeMaitre that actually proves that it is safe, it's fair to assume that it's the same for all manufacturers, unless it's some dodgy import that's not passed any safety tests/kite marks or equivalent.
