Been done for some time.

Can be hired from Essential and Whitelight (http://www.essential-lighting.co.uk/news?id_news=183)

Cost is only about £899 a unit to buy or hire for £40 per day (per unit)
Use them alot - really good and worth every penny.

note: DMXing - you mean DMX (its abit like sheep - you dont add an s on the end if you have more than one or in this case an ing) :-)

so you can just plonk them around the room...



PS, what Id also like to see invented , is a Video version of the Pioneer CDJ2000.

although I wouldnt like pioneer to invent the price tag for it :)

Non disco related but i would invent a chewing gum vending machine....sounds random, there is the odd occassion i forget chewing gum and i think damn it wish i could get some. Especially on a night out, i hate it, they should replace cigarette machines....way more important haha

If someone could invent a time machine I'd go back in time about 30 years and bring a chewing gum vending machine from the 80's just for you.

On a serious note, wireless electricity would be a big plus (and by that I don't mean lightning)

My pet hate is listening to two lots of music at the same time.I'd like a little Robot that I could send to cancel out any background music or juke boxes at the venue where I am workng.Instead of waving like a demented Banshee at the staff that I'm ready to start.I'd also like to be able to programme the Robot to turn the House lights up or down at the right time...without me having to leave the rig ;) ;) ;) ;)

there are loads in the jacks in venues over here in Ireland. Breath mints, chewing gum, toothbrushes, condoms, fragrances in one machine.
All seem to haave the same aim; to help with scoring!

But they're internal, so really no more so than you'd have to install some kind of receiver to connect with your wireless mains.
A possible compromise would be an AC battery, the technology already widely exists in the form of inverters, so presumably it's just a question now of reducing cell size to portability.
In fairness most of the equipment we use contains some form of step-down transformer so 240/250 V is really, although convenient, unnecessary.
The biggest issue would be how do you safely transmit mains power ?...it would be at least unfortunate if punters coming up with requests were caught in the beam and fried alive :eek:

You misunderstood my suggestion.

When I talked about wireless mains, I meant just that. Nothing to connect your gear to, just mains that was completely wireless as long as you were within xx yards of a wall carrying the power.

I've seen battery powered LED wall washers that operate from an IR remote control so there won't be a need in using DMX. I supose this will be the next biggest revolution in LED lighting.

ive used solar and batterys and an inverter for a gig at an eco festival last year had a few problems when the backup genny kicked in to charge the batterys and my amp didnt like it and tripped off but 30 secs later was up and going again im glad i moved over to my laptop for gigs cause my pc wouldnt have liked that
i would like to see a lighting desk with both universal wireless DMX and wired and be able to connect to the internet and workout what my fixtures are so i dont have to programme it everytime i get a german lighting effect or a cheap one

I think LED Lights such as the Acme Impossibled / Martix, they should have a removable battery, that will come out, and a 10 dock charger, so that you just take them out at the end of 'useage' (to save any sarcastic disputes :D), and re insert it next time you use the particular unit.
