It's great for controlling the lights wirelessly and it works anywhere, even in large function rooms. I often stand at the bar getting a coke - and change the lighting effects. People think I'm magic. :sj:

One meaning of Cad is a lowbred, presuming person or a man whose behavior is unprincipled or dishonorable.

And bounder dosn't fare much better, meanings include someone who is morally reprehensible, an ill-bred, unscrupulous man, or even person of objectionable social behaviour.

I can't think of anything less suitable for "controlling" (using the word very loosely) LX to be honest.

Unless I'm mistaken, that is just a d0m3stic 4-way block with infra red remote switching. Increased lamp strike = reduced lamp life. Lamps powered down on certain luminaires using DMX will leave fans running until the unit temperature reduces to a preset level.

And it's white, which is horrible. Painting it black will make it more horrible.

You *can" also use a screwdriver as a chisel, but it's also the wrong tool for the job.

It was an ironic joke ie Charlie said I sometimes go to the bar and order a Coke and switch my lights, it was meant as a light hearted joke nothing more than that, the old fashion term cad was used in the context of naughty man and on purpose to add to the irony.

I disagree.

Maybe I didn't word it very well.

I use it to plug all my lights in. The majority of my lights are on for the whole evening (I don't use DMX except a CA-8 controller) so what if I want the strobe on for a few seconds? Or I need to turn the laser off?

Instead of messing around with cables, one can just press the designated plugs number and whoosh it's off.

Charlie, I don't think that will do what you want. Two points - firstly, I have carried out PAT run tests on many different strobes over the years and IIRC most (if not all) have a delay in the electronics before the linear tube becomes energised. Secondly, I'm not sure what strobes you use, however professional models (Pulsar Demon Strobe being a good example) may have a fan which stays on even when the flash rate is set to zero. So simply powering it off and on is not a good idea.
