If so, do you find the reception ok?

Me too. They aren't cheap, but are very very good.
Forget plug in speakers, ear pieces and visa mount solutions - they don't last and the quality isn't great. I have tried many and nothing comes close to the Parrott.
I have one in the van and the car now.

I have the CK3200 which has a colour screen.

Hi mate
I use this one as I play my music through it. We have always had parrot in company cars and they have been really reliable. Just make sure you get an external mic and not one that is fitted into the unit as it will sound terrible at the other end.

Same as mine which I highly reccomend, and agree with your views about other systems. Wish I saved all that money wasted on ear pieces etc etc :D

Mine was fitted by Halfords and the second one was fitted by a company on Ebay.

Even if you do have a hands-free kit installed, it's recommended that you avoid using it unless you have to. Your reaction times and concentration levels are siginicantly lessened when you're in the middle of a conversation.

It's not the conversation that's a problem per se, it's the flicking through the diary and writing down names & phone numbers :p

And is it also recommended that you don't talk to passengers in your car too?

And is it also recommended that you don't talk to passengers in your car too?It probably is!
The difference is that passengers most likely can see the road outside, and will appreciate moments where you're not giving them your full attention as you're concentrating on driving. They can also see you, and pick up on body language.

Some can multi task--some cant ;)
On the thread--yes Parrot is excellent, a friend has one in their car and when they ring it sounds like a landline.:)

I know one who doesn't. :(
Our car and van are fitted with Sony players, which have bluetooth built in, so phone calls come through the radio ( no flat batteries in visor units, no trailing cables). USB input as well, so all music on flash drive. Simples.

This is the family.

Other manufacturers do similar products, Kenwood offer external mics, if you pay enough.
The one in the car has superb outgoing and incoming call quality. The one in the van not too good, due to bad mounting stability and excessive external noise. Crystal clear incoming, but outgoing poor when travelling.
My son has a parrot in his van and a top of the range one in his car, and rates them both highly, as others do.

Another vote for Parrot here.
I have an older CK3100 that was installed about 6 or 7 years ago and is still faultless.
They have a firmware updater that you can download to a laptop then update the unit with via Bluetooth so it still works properly with newer phones.

I have one of these a THB cc9060.
It's touch screen, voice activated and it'll read out your text messages which can be very funny something akin to when BT had Tom Baker doing it on landlines :D :D
