Folding Barrows - Are They Worthwhile?

I've struggled along without any assistance (apart from missus carrying few light things) but have an awkward gig coming up.

I have a proper sack barrow that lifts hundred of kilos but wont be able fit it in - but is something like this barrow (link) really going to cut the mustard?

TBH that looks the same as the folding truck sold by focus (and others).
I had one , the first time I tried to move a class D sub , the handle went back , but the platform stayed where is was , complete with speaker :Censored: .
I use a trolley with proper tyres , the platform still folds up against the body , takes up a bit more room , but not much.

Would definitley recomend it over the cheaper ones I've used before as the wheels actually go over gravel and small steps rather than get completely stuck!

Mmm... the trolleys look a much better solution than the standard barrow with small holding area

Apologies for the thread resurrection but I'm looking to buy a platform trolley, it would be used to carry 2 mackies, an active sub and a couple of flightcases (in one hit hopefully)) I really didn't expect choosing one to be such a chore ffs, here's the ones I've looked at so far...

Edit: Mark, I had a folding one, the one I linked to is stronger, you just have to unscrew the handle with two bolts instead.

I have a flat bed trolley that I bought from Costco years ago and the one thing that I would say look out for is pneumatic tyres. They are a godsend over gravel, grass and anything a bit uneven.

I really wish I'd bought more of them as it was less than £30!

I use the same one as Danno, it's a godsend, mainly use it as a trolley and use bungee cords to secure everything on it. Definitely go with a trolley or sack barrow with big pneumatic wheels, so much easier over grass and gravel as others have said, also easier going over steps or thresholds. :)

I've also got one of the sack barrows that megamix had shown a link to, IMO they are ok as long as you over load them, use mine to move my amp/playout flightcase. :D

It arrived caked in orange dust but it has made lugging flight cases around SO much easier. Pretty happy with it considering staples sell them for £80. Not so sure the Weddings in marquees will require the use of it..

I bought a folding sack barrow about 4 months ago. It's one of the best things I have ever bought! It cuts down on the amount of trips from trailer to venue, also saves on the old back. Only down side is if the venue has stairs.

Apart from that, very good.

Serves you right for getting active subs that require a forklift to move. :p :p :p :p ( Actually, joking apart, there is an Elf and Safety issue regarding heavy weights. ;) And it ain't funny. :( )

I have two barrows, the one at the start of the thread, which is perfectly useable and will take two large subs stacked, although not over gravel or grass as the wheels are too narrow. The other is a large extending, folding platform one which will easily take four speakers and several lights just about anywhere. It has pnumatic tyres and was purchased from costco for the grand sum of seventy pounds....... and is worth its weight in gold!:)

No that rocknrollercart would just confuse the hell out of my roadie... :D

I think the flat bed type of barrow are great for flat hotel work etc. but with the sack barrow I use I can bounce up and down steps and generaly navigate obstacals easier.

I use one of these with pneumatic tyres, essential as I do lots of Marquee weddings where I have to bounce over grass, gravel and uneven surfaces. The wheels and axle come off with a simple 'R' clip so it can be transported quite easily.
