RCF V's DB Technologies

Amazing how the DB technologies SUB 15 is near identical to the RCF 705-AS..

Different front granted but the amp housing, speaker handles & build dimensions are identical minus the change of name.

All switches,knobs,power cons, EVERYTHING on the amp module is the same....

Are they both made by the same company ?..

RCF 130db max spl v's DB Tech 133.5 max spl.

Has anyone ever done a comparison on these???

I have just brought the DB Tech sub off Tom.

I've just bought a db sub15 today too but wont recieve it till monday :O(

Can't wait to try it out, Heard nothing but great reports of db...

Also, The db sub15 is 4 kg lighter than the rcf :D

Going by specs, the DB sub will be twice as loud as the RCF but only at a peak point and not overall (at a guess being a bandpass cab)

There will be a slight difference in sound due to the HF port being a different shape, but then again, the internal chamber sizes could be different also.

I've no doubt the rcf will be better but at £300 upwards of a difference, I personally think db packs a mean bargain..:)

Yep, same company more or less. RCF's are made in Italy using european parts and hence the euro rate makes them pricey. DB's are put together in Italy but tend to use internal parts from elsewhere. Both subs are disappointing .

I love the SUB 15... Lots of thunderous great sounding bass & it's a light 33kg....

But hey, That's only my opinion....:D

The 133db spl is going to be a peak output at a single frequency and I would guess it might be around the 80hz region (hence why I set it at 80hz on the sub Charlie).

But having thought about it, at a guess, the output around the 80hz could be just an impedance spike hence it being louder than the rest of the range the sub was designed for.
