Picked a new set of speakers up yesterday (thanks to the guys at sounds live)

so far i have only managed to treat the neighbours to their excellent sound reproduction.

first impressions they are excellent, high build quality, more than enough input combinations to cover all eventualities and a fantastic sound output.

probably going to use them this weekend just to give them a run out to see how they perform in a live situation.
then perhaps i can have a look at writing a review.

I heard these at Seda on Sunday. Very nice. Even better with the sub.

Question: Are you replacing the Bose?

not replacing the bose

bought the k12's for the spit and sawdust and smaller functions, use the bose for the upmarket wedding / corporate stuff and very happy with them.

I'd be very interested in your review as these are on my shortlist.
Did you listen to any others before you made your decision?

i listened to the k12's in 2 different environments with my own selection of music and they performed very well,i had more or less made my mind up beforehand but did compare them side by side with some rcf 7 series which were disapointing.

Interesting - I've always liked RCF, I use ART310a as tops and for small parties on their own, they're very good for a 10". But one supplier told me he was disappointed with the bass from the ART 7 series and didn't recommend them for DJ'ing over other comparable speakers on the market.

So far I've heard the new Eon 515's - sounded very 'boom tizz' in my opinion - were ok with the r'n'b the shop demo'd them with, but as soon as I put in some older music (a bit of funk) they sounded all bottom and top and the vocals sounded totally seperate from the rest of the track.

Going to demo the K12's and some DB Technologies 602d's and 605d's (mainly 'cos they weigh less than 13kg!).

i found the k12s to be poor in comparison to the k10s. I found the 12s too bright compared to the 10s and they dont give that overall quality sound. I can easily do a small gig with just the 10s without the sub and people have commented on how good they sound. Obviously when added with the sub it is even better.

The QSCs wipe the floor over the DBTs so i wouldnt even bother compare them IMHO.

i listened to the 10's as well and they did sound tighter than the 12's and have a wider dispersion,i chose to go with the 12's and try them live with the option to change to the 10's if i am not completely happy.

Thats good you got that option because that is exactly what we ended up doing. The dispersion from the 10s arent bad at all and obviously the weight is a lot better than the 12s so you can easily pop them on/off speaker stands with ease without straining.

Another thing to note is that if you are getting a K Sub, the 12s do not fit properly on the sub when wanting to wheel it all in/out of venues because the strap doesnt go around the 12s. However with the 10s it is possible so makes transporting easy

Didja get a chance to use them?

used them twice so far

first time was a 40th birthday in a rugby club about 130 people
second time was a wedding in a local hotel about 120 people

the k12's did not disappoint, more than up to the job, plenty loud enough no clipping and no heat and the sound quality is excellent.

I gotta say I had a look at them and think they look very nice and smart speakers. I like the full grill frontage on them.
