What Lighting Effect???

Nothing on TV monday night so flicking around (missus doing the ironing - she knows her place :lol:) and I've just caught up with the first in the new series on '4 Weddings' on Living +1. This was the wedding with the black girl doing the naturist wedding thing (in fact she won it) - Anyway to the point - At the very first wedding, during the first dance, the DJ/Disco had 1 lighting effect going which looked great - It was casting circles on the floor that looked like moving bubbles. I tried to get a look at the rig and didn't see any tell tale (triangular(ish) martin like) fixtures, which I thought it might have been.

If anyone watched the program or has any clue of what effect I'm on about, and knows what light it was, please share - I want one :)

Not at all mate - I've got an Impossiled and just had a gander at your links. The circles in the program were solid white and also a thick white circle outline and slow moving - I probably should have said that in the first post.

Cheers CJ - Looking at the min-vid it could very well be the Wizard extreme - although I didn't see one on the rig in the program - can't argue with the image it's projecting though. Looks like I might be parting with the best part of a grand then. sarcastic :beer1: for you CJ

EFX500 isn't the easiest light to mount as it's heavy and the bracket is funny. Finally got mine sorted a while back though thanks to Ultimax :D

Never had the budget for a Wizard Extreme ... it looks great though.

Mind you for the price of a wizard extreme you could by 10 acme dynamos or 10 impossibled or 10 ...........
Over priced but a nice light same as above just couldnt budget for somethign that expensive. Not for 1 effect anyway.

EFX500 isn't the easiest light to mount as it's heavy and the bracket is funny. Finally got mine sorted a while back though thanks to Ultimax :D



Why did you have problems then? I've never had any mounting mine.

If it was a wizard they certainly are excelent lights, I run 2 of the original wizards and they are more than enough for the majority of venues:

Agreed, we have 1 of these and at some parties all we need is that because the coverage is amazing and can do allsorts with DMX :)

i too used a G-clamp through the hole at the top of the bracket. The only problem with that is you lose about 8 inches of height which on an ultimax stand that doesn't go that high anyway is quite a lot.

I changed the mountings so that I have 2 x g-clamps front bolted to the EFX500. This raises the EFX500 so that sits on the front of the Trusslite rather than hanging underneath. This puts it above the audience rather than firing at them.

The g-clamps are bolted on tight and stay mounted on the EFX500 so setup is very quick, 2 mins to mount, safety chain and wire into the prewired bar.
So i can setup lighting now in about 10 minutes including DMX controller etc which is handy.

i will take photos if anyone is interested but hopefully i have explained it ok.
