OK, so I am looking to buy a laser to use at my 18th and 21st parties. Generally I can use haze as long as I don't use too much.

I have a KAM 3d laser already which I use as a centrepiece for older parties / weddings etc and as it creates a nicer mellow effect but what I am looking for is ...

Something that will create a real impact, so I am thinking an animation laser, so motion needs to be nice and smooth. I would also like to be able to DMX it to project 'Congratulations' or 'Stars' or any of the built in patterns.

I may decide to buy 2 units and I am considering the Kam FSCAN 40 if this is the case.

So as a summary
* Smooth Motion
* Animation
* Reliable
* UK purchase. No chinese ebay imports please
* £300 total budget.

What are you using out there and what can you recommend for me to try out.

Thanks

Dave

I wasn't sure what to buy either when I was looking for a scanning laser. I thought I had decided on the FScan 40, but I actually went for the Prolight Equinox Zodiac laser which was around £150 inc. a hard case from PhaseOne.

It's smooth (although the fscan would be smoother, I would imagine), has animations, hasn't failed on me yet, is in the UK and is half your budget!

Why did you go for the zodiac over the Fscan 40 Ollie?

I have recently purchased this laser - http://www.getinthemix.co.uk/TRI-160-Kam-TRi160-Three-Colour-DMX-Laser.htm

I think this laser gives off a great effect with 3 different colours and will work very well as a centrepiece on your light stand.

I chose the Zodiac over the FScan because;

- Zodiac is cheaper including a case.
- Zodiac has got ILDA/IDLA (can't remember which way round the initials go!) which would allow me to expand the use of my laser, although not a huge factor in my choice.
- Zodiac is brighter than the FScan.

I believe you can write your own text on the Zodiac, but you can't on the FScan, although once again for mobile work it's not a big deal, but I would imagine could be quite effective!

Looks like they do a TRI140 FSCAN now which looks nice. RGY+Orange.
