I have brought this off eBay...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280483906951&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

It doesn't seem to work...

My laptop doesn't register it in "My computer."

Any ideas?

Follow my how to format a hard drive word doc. Its on the forum somewhere. That might fix it.

right click on My Computer and Choose Manage then Disk Management, it's possible that the drive does not have a letter or it is being seen as 'foreign' in which case you need to tell it that it is ok.

plugged in with both USB plugs? Could be a power issue.

Can I just ask if you are planning to use that as your DJ hard drive?

That's the one I've been using for 18 months with only the occasional Cortex related issue.

From the drive itself, nope, none at all - it's been good and reliable and can sustain a pretty good transfer rate for a 2.5" USB disk. I've had fairly regular crashes from the Cortex though - which I'm actually starting to suspect may be down to a dodgy USB cable (I tried using the same cable to get files off my phone a few nights ago and found it lost the connection every few minutes - new cable, no problems).

I had a drive appear to die on me. It was one I don't use as a main, so I didn't look into it urgently. When I did look closer, and follow the suggestions of another member, it did indeed turn to to be the cable at fault. I'm told that with the unpowered single cable ones, it has to work hard, and may have a short life. Worth a look.

Best drive i own is my Freeport Tough drive. If you email Freeport they send you out a free PSU for it. :) For the times when you cant get it powered from the USB.

Helpful tip there Callum. If only they weren't so expensive they'd be the weapon of choice. ( Yeah I know, you have to pay for quality, buy cheap buy twice, yeah yeah yeah. :D :D :D )

This is not recommended folks. Only trained idiots are advised to do it. :D I done it once to show off how much punishment it could take. Ie getting dropped off a stage in one of those freak accidents. Still not a problem.
