monitors

Im thinking of adding a pair of lcd monitors to my deckstand ( one on each pole near the top of my starcloth ), now this may seem extreme or not but ive seen other's with tv's/monitors etc on theres with and with out the extentions bars or on there truss etc, now i have the Kam 4ft deckstand and was thinking of putting them on the lighting support bars just above where the top of a starcloth would be but im not that clever and was after some insperation ive been looking at these monitors http://www.web-systems.co.uk/?page=Products&pid=5175 and was wondering what brackets i would need, how would i show the same thing on each screen etc i would be using a lappy and they would be for the likes of photos,music videos,slideshows etc.

Would really appreciate any help/advice

If your just running 2 monitors and want exactly the same then a VGA splitter will work. http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=7039&tid=frooct

Below is how i would roughly have it. two ideas there number 1 being the red number and on the poles or idea 2 being the blue number and on top of the speakers but would like to have help/advice on how to secure them on top of the speakers to be safe ( Thought of them budgee rope type things with the J like hooks on the end that would grip round the handles of the speakers ).

Ultimax put together some 32mm Casting with VESA attachment without the extension arm for me about 2 years back. Give Andy Tain a call. He has helped me a few times now with non standard mountings for lights and monitors.

Edit: This would put your monitors in Position 1 in your picture. I now run a single 23" monitor attached with a VESA and G-clamp where your centre light is. I just run a slideshow of pictures on mine if requested as an add on extra for the customers. (this eliminates the need to run a VGA splitter, so is quicker to setup). I find the 23" is big enough and this is about the maximum for a VESA 100 fixing, which i already had. In theory you could go bigger, with 27" monitors now clocking in at £250.

Open castings to suit your deckstand - I use Ultimax 32mm ones

A length of 20mm steel box tube (B+Q, about a fiver a length)

Couple of wingnuts & bolts from an old light stand or bought

Tools required - couple of screwdrivers, a hacksaw and a drill.

Construction time - about 10 minutes.

Assembly time at the gig - about a minute. I leave the VESA brackets on the screens during transport and just attach the pole mounts with two butterflies as required.


I'll let the pictures speak for themselves :)

who is going to see the monitors when you get half a dozen people dancing in front of your kit?

in my opinion they would look better higher up
