Uplighting Poll - Sorry to bore you!

Whilst re-designing my site, I thought it was time to pop a few extras on there and uplighting was one of them.

I know we have had endless threads about the service but I reckon this will help others and myself out.

Not that expensive Steve , I use the LEDJ Colourbursts , these can be had for around £30 each , 4 channel DMX , but 9 times out of ten I just set the colour via the dip switches.

I think this is like a lot of things, it looks good when set up correctly in the right venue but in the wrong venue and if set up badly it can look like an amateurish effort

One of the most true statements regarding uplighting.

Anyone can buy a few par cans and stick them in a room. Sticking them in the correct place is the hard part, but is what make the job amateurish or professional.

I can't vote in your poll Charlie as none of the choices match my situation... :(

I supply uplighting but use it mainly to enhance my show. I will occasionally put some parcans around the venue too if I have time but I wouldn't try to sell it as an add on. I have 8x thomann budget LED Par56's. :)

I have no plans to provide uplighting.

It already takes me an hour to lug in & set up the disco gear, and that takes more than enough effort without adding to it, regardless of any extra income.

I've only ever had one enquiry about uplighting with a disco. I told them it's not a service I offer & they still booked the disco anyway!

Judging by the results it looks like in the long run uplighting DOES pay off.

Do you have to sell the service or do clients already know about it?

It was fairly popular last year as an add-on, but not quite as much this year.

Although I do quite well out of uplighting only jobs, whether for corporate or with other things like dance floors etc.

Dry hire is proving pretty popular too :)

im debating where to invest in next as spent all of my income on the rig rather than buying other things that can bring in more income. uplighting is on the list but may choose to look at dancefloors etc.. first

I need to buy a S & H booth and new mixer first. :( I hope to do that by the end of May.
