I didn't want to hijack the other thread so have started this one ;)
On a similar playlist problem. Last Saturday I too had a 40th Party, this one being a suprise for the birthday boy. I got a phonecall off the organiser saturday morning asking to play Stevie Wonder Happy birthday as he entered the room, no problem there. I asked her if she was going to email the playlist as promised earlier in the week only to get the reply that she had posted it along with a cd of mp3's during the week as it wasn't "normal" stuff :confused:
At that point the penny dropped as to what the letter the post office were holding to ransom as there wasn't enough postage on it :eek: :eek: The card from the post office arrived saturday morning 10 minutes before the sorting office closed which is 20minutes away.
She said she'd get a copy of the playlist to me before they arrived.
I got to the golf club set up and about 15minutes before they were due to arrive for the big surpise I had a cd of mp3s given to me and a list of songs eek:
Most of the list of 120 odd songs I had anyway so not much of a drama although the written playlist just had the song title and not the artist! Luckily I always throw the laptop in just in case so was able to open the cd to see which artist it was and the night went well. Most were well known artists ie: New Order, Doves, Athlete, Ian Brown the tunes were tracks I don't usually get to play. things like Black & White Town, Barbarism begins at home, caught by the river.
It turned into quite a difficult night to please everyone as the ages ranged from 15 up to 75 so they all wanted different tunes. I got a round of applause at the end so hopefully that ment most people were happy :D
What have I learned from that night?
That throwing the laptop in for that once every couple of years use is well worth it but I wish some clients admin was more on the ball;)
