Pub gigs

I was wondering what equipment you would use in pubs?I have a gig in a small pub coming up and I'm thinking about the lighting set up.Pics would be good!!

not really any different to normal work- just maybe a little less depending on the space?

2 acme boogies with an impossibled in the middle on a ulimax micro stand, works for me and fills tiny area's up to medium sized rooms.

I used two scanners and a par bar on 1.25 metres of truss when I was forced to setup in a tight space. :)

x2 zoom colourbars and an impossibled is all i use, gives plenty of ambient colour and fills the dancefloor area.
I tend to use my 4 foot ultimax stand, however , sometimes its a bit tight, a micromax would be a worthy investment especially if you get more smaller gigs.

i would use the cheapest gear i can get becasue just last nite i was in my local.

Just out the blue a guy stand's up and hits a chair of the DJ light's he did this becasue the song the dj play the guy never liked.

So dj turn all music of and said he had enought and going and the guy that got the chair was face to face with him...

But we all jumped in pulled the drunk off kicked him out and the DJ played on with 1 light down.

He propley was only getting like £100 as well.

I find the equipment used for pub gigs varies massively, not that I do many of them.

In some cases it's literally been my console and nothing else, as I've been able to plug into their system & no lights have been required.

However, I've also used my normal mobile set up in pubs.

By the way Rob...there are 6 within 50 miles pick-up from me on E-bay if you want me to Nab them for you.

They're 99p at the moment(for all six)...I'm not expecting them to improve that much on that....No reserve!!

I agree with Rob although I believe every venue is different and your system should be flexible enough to cope with any venue.

But, as Rob says, some pubs have their own systems anyway and it's much easier to use what is there already than to have to worry about configuring your own kit to suit especially with lighting.

But, as a general guide, for an average pub with no equipment of it's own, I would use my 1200W sound system coupled with an impossibled and my 4-head gobo system as it's a show in it's own right. If it's a particularly dark pub, I may even include 4 par56s to add a bit extra light.
