looking at new eco transport

ive been toying with the idea of getting one of these

its a cargo trike i could move most of my equipment in it and if ive not got enough room ive already got a trailer for my bike that i use for small gigs.

im really not kidding at min ive got trailer for my bike and done a few gigs with it the hippy types love it. i get charge extra for using my bie and trailer and quite alot of people go for it i take a spare set of clothes for when i get there but all is good. theres a guy that uses his for getting trussing, litedeck and equipment to venues at festivals. but im defo going for the electric assist option if i do go for it.

I would say it's not practical, not overly safe, not secure and would look absolutely terrible turning up at any half decent venue.

Can you imagine cycling about 5 miles home in the rain with a soggy kebab towing about a quarter of a ton of equipment behind you after standing on your feet for the best part of 6 hours, I must say though after a few gigs you would get very fit.......not for me though. :)

I actually like the idea but don't think it's practical for a mobile DJ.

I'm guessing your only doing local gigs with this method of transport? You would cycle home at 2am in the morning after a long tiring gig? Not really secure, when people find out what your carrying you may become vulnerable.

mmmmmmmm, cycling to and from a gig in a city centre may cause you to be the centre of abuse and ridicule.

Its a nice idea however as said on a practical side it may be a non starter. Also not sure if you have seen it but they used a couple of these for a marathon program on channel 4 I think it was they followed a guy running a marathon with three of these with cameras on. Not one of them made it to the finish they all failed. Not a great reliability advert that.
Mind you I like that thought and If I was the only DJ in a very small village and that was my only catchment area then it may be viable.
I did when I first started DJ'ing over 20 years ago carry all my equipment on foot to the venue as it was only half a mile away and I had not yet taken my driving test. Wore me out very quickly and I used to leave half the gear there for next day but it had its merits.

ive hired one for my next gig in 3 weeks which is 3 miles away from my unit will let you how it goes the one ive hired doesnt have electric assist and only costing £20 for the day which is less than my driver

However - Looking at it more seriously - some clients WOULD like this...why do some Disco companies go to the effort of mentioning "LED Lighting" being great for the environment....Eco friendly etc.

i did once do a gig at a eco fest type event they were running power from wind turbines and solar panels with a lpg generator for backup the idea wasnt to bad but i wasnt using a laptop back then and when the genny kicked in my pc restarted. i now work for a woodlands doing eco and conservation work so im doing my best to keep it up in my personal life aswell. and i do enjoy cycling alot and 3 miles with 1/4 tonne is nothing really done it already but i think i will have almost 1/2 tonne in the new trike not sure yet still working out what to take
