Looks great Charlie.

Just one thing...are the tops of some of the letters in the page headings meant to be cut off?

If so, I think it looks funny having them like that.

If not, you have a problem!

This is what I mean:

How strange. It displays fine in Google Chrome

Looks good Charlie, only one thing I would change, instead of having random images on each page, I would have a fixed imaged for each page. I think it looks odd when you click on 'Kids & School Discos' and get a picture of a Bride & Groom or Adults Dancing. I would have a fixed 'Kids' picture and a fixed picture for weddings etc.

I don't have that on my screen Rob?

It must be a problem unique to IE7 with XP then.

Hopefully the web guru will be able to give more info on this.

No problem, Charlie.

All the headings on every page are the same my end though...they all have the top of some of the letters cut off.

You could always try www.browsershots.org it'll show you how the website is displayed in different browsers on different operating systems.

Are you using an CMS engine to run it??

Odd - looks fine in IE7/XP here. Rob could I ask a favour - would you look at http://www.charliebrownsdisco.com/kids-rob.php for the same issue?

The plan is to replace the stock images with Charlie's own pics when he gets some decent ones sorted out over the summer, so each page can have a context-specific slideshow.

No. It's lean and mean :)

In general, it's good. Not sure on the colour scheme with the background.

Generally I like Charlie, but is it just me or should the navigation buttons be on the left. I don't find it intuitive.

Sorry to be picky but I'd also call myself Charlie Brown Entertainment not "Brown's" I think it sounds better.

The background make the whole thing feel dated too me!

Also Martin. Tranparencys and IE6 dont mix. :D Might want to use that .htc mod on it. Only use the junk in school but someone might use it else where.

Other than that its good.

It's in IE7, if you're on IE8 hit the compatability mode button at the end of the address bar (see attached) and you should see it as IE7 sees it. Or use Browsershots, IE Tester, Adobe Browser Labs etc. etc...

Should be easy enough fixed by adding top padding or height to h1 tags, to be safe do it with conditional styling for IE less than 8.

Overall looks really good. Still don't like the background, though!

I am torn because I sort of like it and I sort of don't...

Two things I am clear on though is I don't like the font (Georgia, but then that's just personal taste), and the background would look nice on a Wedding based website but doesn't work for me on a generalist site.

Flock wallpaper springs to mind...

Still, far better than anything I could make and infinitely superior to most DJ websites out there.

At least it doesn't have a twinkling night sky background and dancing girl animated gifs...

Charlie! You listening? :D (not my choice btw... just thought I'd make that abundantly clear :p )

Tranparencys and IE6 dont mix. :D

The design brief explicitly excluded IE6 support to keep costs down. Some might say that's a bit premature, personally I feel that the quicker web designers stop pandering to it, the quicker it'll die. :)

It will look even better once you replace the stock photos with ones of your own.

You can always trust Martin to produce an excellent site :D
(will this get me a discount on a third site Martin??;) )

I suggest leaving it be; should an actual customer ever comment on it, then you already have your reasons :)

Don't listen to a bunch of DJs, what do they know :p

Charlie,

Don't worry...I think most websites have a bit of down time now & again when there are problems with the server.

Your contact page is broken in IE7 (and IE8 in compatabilty mode) - can't select an animal and the submit button is hidden behind the bottom banner.

Again, Martin has tweaked the site adding a Xmas Page, Band Combo page, Mobile Nightclub etc and a few additional extras - such as the ability to pay online. (Have a look! www.charliebrownsentertainment.com)

I'd like to thank Martin for all his help both on & off the forum. He's a true gentleman - with a serious talent.

I'd seriously recommend his services to anyone (who doesn't live remotely near the East Midlands :D :p ). The increase of decent enquires I've had is astonishing.

He is professional, good value for money & always happy to help. I have sent him loads of emails, asking him to tweak this and that...and it hasn't been an issue. (More pages = more dosh, don't forget) ;) He isn't scared to offer his advice too - if he thinks I'm making a bad move, which is also appreciated.

I'm on his pay monthly service which includes hosting and his TLC.

Thanks Martin. You're a star. :beer1:

On your Gallery page, the drop-down for the bottom menu item drops down behind the YouTube flash item.

Should be easily fixed by adding wmode=transparent into the youtube embed code.

One other comment I have is that the page filenames should always (imho) include potential search keywords. For example: -

http://www.charliebrownsentertainment.com/cp.php

would be much better (from an SEO POV) to be called: -

http://www.charliebrownsentertainment.com/civil-partnership-disco-entertainment.php

(or something similar).

Just remember to do a 301 redirect if you do change the filenames, because Google has already indexed the current ones.
