Just wondering if anyone uses a netbook to control your DMX effects?

I've tried it a few times with a borrowed netbook and it seems to work well, So much so that I'm tempted to get one myself for the sole use of controlling my DMX Par's and scanners. With them being smaller than a laptop it free's up more space on my stand and with storage increasing all the time capacity is no longer an issue.

What's your views on them? Do you or Have you ever tried it?

I use a dell netbook with an 8gb solid state harddrive to run daslight and it works perfectly well.

Thanks for the link VV.

Not interested in the Ipad (Iphone is enough Apple for me:D)
I do like the look of your touch screen device but for the spec's seems overpriced if I'm honest. I can get a netbook with same spec's with a slightly smaller screen and obviously no touch screen for half the price.

I'd pay double, nay treble the price for the convenience and dynamism that touch-screen has brought to my show.

It's difficult to get across how marvellous it is (especially with a fully-DMX'd rig) in words. You can be so responsive to changes in tempo and mood and it makes a great lightshow into a superb lightshow. I get lots more feedback about the lightshow now than pre-touchscreen, and I've not changed the gear :o

i like this a lot, so and I can see this being a future upgrade which will help me run many different lighting configurations with my existing kit.

Love the eeeTop, but i might consider the EeePC T91MT as a base for this. 8.9" touchscreen which should be big enough to do the job assuming you can customise the button size on DAS (I know you can on Showexpress)

I just bought the new hp hybrid. It a full laptop in netbook size. I liked it because you can just inset a sim into it and use the internet without dongle. It also has windows 7 and 3 gig of ram with a 250gb hard drive. I have been trying out buying music online with it to update my numark drives and it works a treat. Also gets 10 hours out of the battery in a 1 hour charge. Downside was £500 to buy.
