One? We have dozens, all with XLR connectors, not surprisingly ;) :)

On a serious note, as Darren has indicated - give us an idea of your budget, and your typical applications, and you'll get loads of recommendations. Alternatively have a search, as microphones are a popular topic that often get discussed.

Hi yes sorry, I'm looking for a second hand microphone to use as a back-up system. Budget £40 max, just need one that works.

I need to use for announcements etc, whilst DJing at weddings. Will need to plug into the xlr point on my mixer.

For a very small budget such as that, I'd agree you can't get better than a Shure PG or an entry level Senny.

However ...this is what I would do.


Go onto a famous marketing site!!

Go to buying....advanced search....

Microphones....

Limit your options to within 20 miles of your postcode!!


There will be loads.Choose one.....:D :D


When you've bought it go to collect.Don't part with your cash until you've heard it working!!:beer1: :beer1: :beer1:

Agreed. Personally, I'd go for an 825 in preference to an 815, but not sure of prices.

If you want my proper advice get a minimum of a Sennheiser 835s (switched if for dj use straight 835 if for vocal work).

They are what I use as spares and for X Factor style talent nights we do at a Casino. They are good entry level mic (and I mean entry level to professional audio).

If you can only push to £40 get the Senny 815 or the Shure PG that was suggested.

I use a Shure PG58 (recommended on this forum I believe) in my main rig and it sounds fine for DJ work, announcements etc

it comes in XLR and jack versions.
