Hello Guys,

I had a look on Thomann for some LED Par Can 56's and I came across these -

Does anyone have any experience with these units?

Do you think they will be reliable and good quality for the cheap price?

The other thing was, I have been thinking about using tripod covers on my crank stands and uplighting them with some LED Par Can's - What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Thank you Angela for posting that link.

I think that they look good but most of the forum members don't think that they look that great or they look disgusting.

I was thinking of using them instead of using the moving heads for the older gigs.

I have 6 of them. They are good as basic LED par can. No master slave but good under DMX. Downside is the LEDs in the boards sometimes go but a quick email to them and they will send you out some spares FOC. :)

Thank you for that information CB Entertainments.

I will be using the LED Par cans with this DMX Controller - http://prolight.co.uk/images/media/CONT06/CONT06-wf0.jpg

In the near future, I think I will be purchasing 6 of them to use, 4 of them will go on my lighting truss and 2 will be used for the tripod covers (if not using moving heads).

That should be fine to run them. I use a PC based system to control mine as it has a scene generator in it to quickly make fades and such.

Depends if you like the tripod covers. Personally I think they are hideous, but each to their own. :)

I think that the tripod covers look great for weddings etc as they hide the tripods/crank stands + they give a elegant look to the event.

Love or hate... yes, but I can't understand how anyone could describe them as 'elegant'!

Like Angela said - You either love them or hate them.

I am going to create 2 of my own ones and see how I get along with them and if it works out then I will carry on using them - If not then I will scrap the idea and think of something else.

Eventually I would like to go to a PC based DMX system but that won't be happening for a long while yet :(

American DJ MyDMX. :D Cheap and does what it says on the tin. Its nothing fancy but perfect for parcans and that. It can be found for something like £115.

Do you only run LED Par Cans with American DJ My DMX?

I would like a PC Based DMX Software that can run a Full DMX Light Show.

Tom you may want to look on here for the tripod covers. It follows on from the link Angela gave you and they're now affectionately known as "Scovers"

I just run my cans from it. You can easily run a whole show from it.

i run MYDMX for bands and events like that really good controller not bad software and works with some dj software aswell i know it works with pcdj as ive used it with that in the past. as with the led pars there good if you want them just for a wash cause thats all they do but if you want strobe and stuff you would be better off with the ledj ones as they have a great strobe function. tom
