Hello guys,

As some of you may know, I am in the slow stages of upgrading my light show.

As I will be running a new light show - I thought it would be best to prewire my truss to save on set up time.

All my new lighting fixtures will be all dmx and some of my new fixtures will allow me to link power from one to the other.

What would be the best way to prewire my lighting rig - I need to be able to turn lighting fixtures off and on again with a power panel - like this one

http://prolight.co.uk/images/media/BOTE22/BOTE22-wf0.jpg

The lighting fixtures I will be using on the truss system are:

2x Acme Impossibled LED Moonflowers - http://www.swsoundandlighting.co.uk/ACME%20IMPOSSIBLED%20HOME.htm
1x Acme Miracled LED 4 Way Array Moonflower - http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/servlet/Info?ref=gbase&Track=MIRA01
4x Pulse LED Par Can 56 BY CPC - http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=DP30506
2x Isolution IMOVE 5S Spot Moving Heads (Possibly) - http://www.djkit.com/product.php?id=2126

Cheers

if you are using dmx you wont need the switch panel to turn them on and off as dmx will take care of that, however you will need power distribution which is normally done using iec splitters or distribution blocks.

The reason why I suggested the switch panel is because if I run any of my sound active lightiing for any particular reason one night and I wanted to turn them off - That's where the panel comes in to play.

Here is the final product of what my lighting rig will look like.

There are 2 designs - One with tripod covers and one with moving heads.

The Isolution IMOVE 5S Moving Heads will be on flight cases so they don't get knocked or damaged.

Tell me what you guys think!

You did say this "All my new lighting fixtures will be all dmx and some of my new fixtures will allow me to link power from one to the other."

once you go dmx you wont go back to be honest ....

I can see where you are coming from but I have got a pair of old Acme Baby Falcons which are not dmxable and they are a great effect on the dancefloor which I sometimes use instead of my dmx Acme Magic Gobos.

Why not lose 2 LED parcan's and put the I-Moves on the truss?

I think that the movers look better on there cases shining up at the celling + walls etc

Do you guys think I should have all LED "effect" lighting or shall I use some halogen "effect" lighting and keep 1 LED light as a "centrepiece"?

tbh i really don't like the led lighting effects. i use led pars but and battens but that's it i really don't like the scanners and led projector lights that you can see its led it think they look gash i think you should to stick to halogen and standard type lighting. it gives a better lighting effect. and i totally under stand why you don't hang the imove 5s i tried it and there better scanning the room from atop a flight-case.

I can see where you are coming from mate, I was thinking that I could run 2 Martin EFX 500 Moonflowers and have a LED Centrepiece?

I also see your point about the moving heads being on their cases.

Nice drawing, but move the bloody stands inwards to show the overhang I've mentioned previously and that you said you adopt!! ;)
