Is this right or am I missing something.

They seem to be offering an awful lot for £49.
Has anyone had any dealings with them before. It just seems too good to be true.

It looks like you can join for just £36 without PLI. I wish the NADJs had gone down this this two-tier route instead of making it compulsary (even though I don't need it). At £25 per member extra it looks like they got a bad deal compared to this site that offers it for only £13 extra.

It really doesn't matter how much they cover you for..
1 Million 10 Million OR 25Million.....Thats just for your Website or to impress a new venue....
Nobodies ever been able to show me any succesful claims against DJ's with PLI anyway.....
I have it.....but its £120 wasted every year!!

But doesn't £49 seem a bit cheap.
Especially if you are paying £120.

Im sure that Daz will be along at some point, but i mentiond this lot in the members section last August.
I got this reply off AdamF
It's to do with the guy that set up the Wedding DJ Association, they offer cheap PLI by the look of the email
and the following of Daz:
Topic closed.
I am not getting into this on here...
Make of it what you will ;) But if somethings too good to be true....it usually is :)

When this subject has come up before, I remember Darren not being very complimentary about them.
He wouldn't say exactly what the problem was, but it seems he knows something the rest of us don't.

In fairness (unusal for me...), this is just a block policy which is potentially identical to the NADJ one and could well be fine.
Peoples "problems" (mine included), with the organisation are because of the two people that sit behind ampDJ and WDJA, not the insurance policy.
Personally I wouldn't touch anything related to them with a barge pole...
:Censored:
It's cheap and if it works for you then go for it. Would I want to join them and get the PLI or a national association with a tradeshow, extra benefits, meetings and the same PLI policy for £25 more?
No brainer really, but it's personal choice.

I had a look at this and would reccomend anyone contemplating using them has a good read through the terms and conditions first. One of them says that you are not elligble if you have ever had a CCJ. What that has to do with insurance is beyond me but about ten years ago I had a CCJ, so under their terms would not be covered. ;-?

Insurance is based on risk factors. Financial dificulties, criminal convictions, previous claims etc all contribute towards that risk therefore lowering ones chance of have insurance.

But does or has anyone on here had a policy with them, or had any dealings with them. I will have a read up on the NADJ pli, I wasn't aware that they covered you for dry hire on your kit, which is what caught my eye with this pli policy.
I seem to be doing more dry hires that I used to, so need a more comprehensive pli cover.

As long as RSA (which they do) adminster there policies, and you read the policy carefully you should not have any problems.

If the only problem is a couple of people rather than the policy itself, I'm seriously thinking of switching my policy.
I currently pay £120 a year for £5 million cover.
Surely I'd be mad not to double my cover while saving £71 a year at the same time?

Hmmm if that was the case the cost would be 5p a year plus an admin charge of £25.
PLI claims are few and far between I agree but I heard recently of a claim where a Barn Dance Band --perceived to be a lower risk because no mountains of electrical equipment and lights -- damaged the building they were working in when dismantling their gear somehow--about £1000 worth of damage according to the Insurance Broker.
I wasn't aware that they covered you for dry hire on your kit, which is what caught my eye with this pli policy.

You are not covered in any way for kit you hire out, you are just covered when using kit you have dry hired for your own use.

Thanks Pe7e, that's the sort of info I was looking for.
I will have another read of the policy to see if it still meets my needs.
My next thread may be to ask "where do I get dry hire insurance"
Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I joined AMPdj's a few months ago and have to say, no problems! I've even had a booking (kids party) through their referral system!
The PLI Certificate is available to download and i just copied it and email it out to venues who all accept it.
The PLI is through Hencilla Camworth, who i believe also do the NADJ one.
They also do equipment insurance, and through speaking to them, seem to be cheaper and better cover than DJ Guard.
Gotta be worth a go?
Steve.

Back to the thread--did anyone notice there were a lot of conditions of membership which seemed a bit onerous to me relating to setting up and Health and Safety.
Being the suspicious individual that I am on anything thats "cheap" I wonder if you dont comply with those strict rules of membership does that mean your not a fit and proper person and invalidate your Insurance.
The other downside is this---if the "organisation" should not exist any longer you lose your premium because its conditional on you being a member.

Just received an email off them asking me to join

For £49.00 annual subcription Guaranteed extra enqiries (Even NADJ doesn't guarantee that) £10million PLI blah blah blah.
Or is a case of yes Steve everyone on here is registered with them and I've missed the boat?:( :(

Having exchanged a couple of emails with AMPdj, I'll be joining them when my current PLI expires in September, and look forward to getting double the cover for £71 less than I'm paying now.

I too am seriously considering it. Especially if their discount on equipment cover + Membership/PLI comes in at under £400...which is what DjGuard were quoting. :)

When my PLi came up for renewal, I looked around and found out about AMPDJ and their offer of membership and PLi for £49.00 Being the suspicious person that I am, I checked out the offer and the cover, it beats every other deal hands down IMO. The fact that they also included passing on enquiries for the area that I picked, I thought that was probably a pipe dream, but at £49 the insurance was worth it.
I've just checked, 4 months into the deal, I have received 43 enquiries from them, all with telephone no's and email addresses, AND managed to convert over 40% of the enquiries into bookings.
All I'm saying is that it's worked for me. ;)

I have received an external email from the siteowners suggesting PLI cover is subject to rules of the Association being complied with--financially apparently premiums are regularly passed on to the Insurers--clearly you would need to email the owners of the site to discuss as this is a triangular conversation.
