Does anyone use TFTs for karaoke and how do you place them on stands so they are safe?

I use a Powerdrive tripod with a flat piece of wood attached to the top with straps for one screen and one of these (http://www.avbits.com/acatalog/Karaoke_TV_Stand.html) for the other

The second one should be fine, but I'm not sure how to attach the screen to the first one without using screws etc. I was just wondering if anyone does anything differently?

I know you can get attachments that go onto Ultimax stands, but don't always use the stand whilst doing karaoke.

you can get wall mounts for them, you (well ..... i say you ..... Aaron or your dad) would need to adapt that to fit onto the pole

wall mounts normally fit on the back of an LCD unit allowiing it to be fixed to the wall rather than on a stand. it is a stable bracket, screw the bracket to a peice of 18 or 25 mm ply ..... then mount a tripod sleeve on the back of the board .... everything then fits on the tripod (front leg fowrard of course).

or hang it from a t-bar

OK, forget all that...

It was a cheapy 19"tft I bought and it's not wall mountable.

Just read one of the reviews and it said

"The only problem i have found is that these monitors dont have any way of wall mounting them, no screw holes in the back that can be modified either.

The stand is moulded as part of the case so is not removable either."

Bang goes that idea then...

OK, so it can't be mounted using conventional methods, but it can still be mounted some way or another! Use your initiative ;)

most TFT's are wall mountable with a bit of ****ing about daz (vesa compatibility and all that ********)... however if you wanted to put it on a tv stand, just drill the base of it (if its wide enough) and bolt it down. jobs a good'un

I didnt really want to be drilling stuff, as it wouldn't be a permanant install, and I'll be using it in the office too.

ah true... im sure you could think up a way of using pin and clips if you drilled it, but if you're using it in the office then yeah.

check on the back... i wouldnt mind betting that you can detach the monitor from the stand, in which case its most likely standard vesa mounting and you could use any standard mount with it

take the back cover off, and bolt a bracket to it so that the bracket attatches to a stand.

I take a different approach. I use TFT's for karaoke and I am upgrading these to 21 inch screens (Televisions).

I went through a period of using 14 inch screens and I used to ram a pole through the base stand and then gaffer the whole lot up which looked ugly

You can use a vesa bracket that connects to a pole, as you may see in the banks and bulding societies for the Teller positions. But these things are quite dear and tend to be adaptations like a ceiling mount in reverse

http://www.mediaatlantic.com/shopimages/products/normal/unicol_lcd_ceiling_mount_kit_lg.jpg

or more to what I said and the price to match (especially as you throw away the pole and use your stand)

http://www.lcdracks.com/accessor/Mounts_Stands.htm

So my approach now is to actually mount the screen inside a sturdy large cd case, and then put a top hat into the botton edge of the case. Then you just take the lid of the case and plonk the whole thing on the stand as the top hat sticks up behind the screen. I may need to put a bit of batton behind the tv to reinforce the botton edge, but it looks neat and more , it looks disco'ey. I hope to have one built in the next few weeks and then I will post a picture.

We used to use normal tvs for our karaoke, but changed a while ago to TFTs, flat screens. We also stopped using the standard tv stand seen already on posts here. These standard stands are not very safe, but the new pole stands are fine as long as they are secured somehow to the floor. As there will always be the drunk who could knock it over.

The same could be said about any sort of stand surely?

No it cant......

The older ones, on wheel legs with a basket for the telly, are very unstable. I know as have used them, but dont anymore.

Most of the time, we can hook up into the venue screens - big and small, and we bring a flat screen monitor and place it securely on our rig stand specifically for the singer, as a reminder, which is what it is really for.

Well we have had no trouble with ours and all we have done is take the castors off

Came across this, has anyone considered using a lower stand like this (apparently, the stand is an adapted 'drummer's throne', whatever that is :))...
