Hey All

Just wanted to let you all know about the gig I have next friday!

Its a 17th Birthday party and the theme is colours - i.e everything that glows.

I have never done a full blown glow in the dark party but I'm looking forward to it - they have ordered LED balloons, glow sticks, bracelets and knecklaces and most people are wearing white!

With a 450w UV cannon on reserve for the night - things should get interesting.

sounds good - can you post a few piccys if your client is OK with you doing that?

PS: not much response to your thread I'm afraid, everyone's embroilled in an argument elsewhere

Why is the UV canon on reserve as opposed to in use?

Perhaps he means he's reserved it for hire....

Charlie Evans, has done one of these Ben, may be worth giving him a call/email to ask what he used.

Pictures are on his facebook if you have him as a friend. :)

Word of advice... I did a glow party a few months back and used two cannons...
http://www.expressionevents.co.uk/lighting_CLUBDJ%20LIGHTING_uvlighting.html

I actually found that using just one, wasn't enough! When you count in your standard disco lighting (If you are having any) you'll find one cannon just doesn't cut it.
if you can afford to... I would go for two!! And reduce any disco lighting you have to a bare minimum :)

Hope this helps! ( I'll try and find pictures of the gig and post them shortly )

Haha - sorry should have explained better.

Its on reserve to be hired so that they def have one in for when I collect it for the nights event.

Yes it makes perfect sense - however my client can only afford the one :(

What other lighting are you going to use on the night?

Perhaps have the canon directly aimed at the dancefloor (Downwards)
and have your normal lighting angled upwards with a small scattering of lights on the floor :)

True - if the hire company you gave the link to were closer it would of been ideal.

Well the gig was a complete success!

I had a packed dance floor all evening, and the band were pretty good to ;)

The UV cannon went down a storm!

Was a very long day though - worked all day at my full time job in a senior school and then straight off gigging. I must admit it may have looked even better if I had of used 2 UV cannons but hey ho it did go down very well.

Please feel free to check out the photos which I'll put up tomorrow at some point and they will be on my website's photo gallery page. Off out again this evening to do a 30th Birthday - 80s theme night! Lets hope it goes as well as last nights disco :)
