Leaving shortly to set up for the all-Island Carnival Queen of Queens selection night. About 50 dolled-up 7-10 year old girls and their entourages battling it out for the privilege of being the supreme carnival queen for a year. If it's anything like last year there'll be about 300 of the little loves screeching and cheering their mates on to win.

Oh joy.

Yours truly is MC'ing and DJ'ing inbetween the various stages of the evening then half an hour after the final announcements whilst photos take place.

Should be home, beer in hand by about 10 :)

That's it for this weekend. Have house guests coming for the BH weekend so need to spend some time sprucing up a bit. Particularly the garden :bang:

Big marquee Wedding on Saturday, early setup, and very probably a very early finish. The next day. ;) :( :( I've played for these lot before. ;) I could easily be packing up in daylight. )
Sunday morning, I shall have to try to surface mid morning for a trip to Penmare Hall, to pick up a couple of items, and have a little chat with the lad. Pub lunch, across to daughter's in Sheffield, and then in the evening, off to the NEC to watch one of the Legends of Rock. None of your modern so called Superstar DJ's take note Penmare, a real Star. I think he's older than me. I'm quite looking forward to it. Do you know who it is yet? :D :D :D :D

Errr, well actually: I just rang a local motor factors, as there was some dispute about what parts fitted it.  I've collected the bits needed for nearly £100 less than quoted elsewhere, and I'll fit them myself at my brother's garage, so not as painful as all that.

Nothing for 2nd weekend in a row for me :( so I been studying disco setup alterations etc (as some of you may be aware!) and a bit of prep for future bookings. Spending quality time with the fiance, although tomorrow I will be hoping to watch Cardiff City reach the Premiership for the first time with a few beers and then possibly the Champions League final!

But end of the month and early June is looking good - 2 Thursday night bookings and got a Monday night for the first time in ages coming up too :) Next event is a new junior school booking 2-3 hours next Thursday and then a dreaded all dayer wedding 12pm-12am - 2 days later (week on Saturday). Can't complain though as I got some good venues coming up which is always a bonus!:)

What's everyone up to?

I'm playing cameraman tonight at a 16th birthday to get vids and pictures for the new website. Got both subs out too as they want some Dubstep and D&B. We are allowed to use haze/smoke, so I thought I'd make the most of it and take the lasers and a bigger show than normal to get some footage.

Saturday - 40th birthday.

Saturday im working where no Caller would normally work--

Marlborough Public School, Wiltshire for a pre Disco Barn/Line Dance.

Working with some err young people who I assume will be drunk.

Mind you-- you have to be 18 to drink legally:)

Im doing it because I wasnt comfortable sending anyone else--after my experience at Cambridge University Students Union Wild West night I think a repeat performance will do the trick--;)

Now where did I put Rednex :beer1: :beer1: :beer1:

Yes. And phones are for phone calls, not smurfing t'interweb. :p :D :D

Hey ho, tip the gear, off to Penmare Hall, pub lunch, and then off to see a Rock Legend. Tonight's the night.

Oooh la la, some guys have all the luck, eh? I'm sure the memory will stay with me for a long time, with every beat of my heart.
The dearly beloved is already wearing the handbags and gladrags in anticipation. We'll be twistin' the night away no doubt, and I hope the exertion doesn't leave us with hotlegs.

I have reason to believe it will be an excellent concert. Can you tell who it is yet? :D :D

Just got back from France - did a wedding in a lovely chateau in the Loire Valley. At the last minute I also had to cue the music in the church as well. The church pianist, well I say pianist - casio organ and a reportoire of 5 hymns, none of which were wanted by the bride and groom, and he refused to learn any new ones, all for the bargain price of £300 - was politely told his services were not required and a hastily compiled cd was used instead.
Then a short walk to the chateau for canapes and champagne, a lovely meal and then party time (I'm a friend of friends of the bride and groom so was also part guest as well). Music went from RatPack style easy listening outside and during the meal to motown, 60's, 70's, 80's party classics and ended being a bit of an AC/DC, G'n'R etc rock out at the end. Only played one recent tune, Beyonce - Put a Ring On It, throughout the whole night.
First outing for my four new ADJ led colourwash panels and controller, very pleased with them - had them on my overhead bar, slow fades throughout the meal (in a converted wine celler, very light coloured, arched, stone walls so they really showed up well) then on a sound chase later - only needed 1 revo 3 and a kam 3d star cluster to complete the lighting.
Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, full dancefloor all night and lots of cheers as favourite tunes came on - I'm also doing their UK wedding party for those that couldn't make France this weekend, really hope it goes as well.
