Hi people,
Last night I had the best gig Ive ever done. Everything just seemed to be perfect :). It was a late booking as the pub only realised their resident DJ was booked elsewhere so called me. I had no idea what the actual booking was for just the time as everytime I spoke to someone at the pub they said a different age :S I was told a 18th then a 60th haha.
First my mate who DJed the night before called me and told me that he has left his gear up and I could use it which is alot better than my equipment and also ment I didnt have to pay someone to drive my equipment up. I went up and hour before I was due to start (starting at 3:30) and made sure everything was working fine and eventually found out what the party was for (a 25th Birthday).
I had requests coming in all night and plenty of people wanting to do karaoke which made my job a lot easier haha. It then came to near the finishing time (8:00) and the birthday girls mother came over and asked if I'd be able to carry on and I said "sure its an extra £10 an over the booking time" and she said brill and paid me to play till 11:00.
Then to my amazment and everyone was shocked the birthday girls partner came to me and asked if he could do a speak and I said sure, the next minute he is on 1 knee and proposes to the lass and she said yes. I thought that be perfect time for a slow song so played Enrique Iglesias - Hero as someone had requested that earlier and everyone got up for a slow dance. About 9:00 he came up to me again and said he has just booked the venue again for an engagement party and wants me to do it so that was 1 more booking.
When it came to the end I ended with Tina Turner - The Best and just about everyone came over and shook my hand and said thank you, 6 people asked for a card and 2 people paid a deposite to book me and set a date. Then just as I was leaving the pub one of my mates who works at a local Restaurant said he is having his wedding next month and hates the resident DJ so booked me for my the wedding :)
I don't think it could have got any better. I also got a bottle of wine from Birthday Girl
