Finished my marquee wedding at 1am, home by two. Quick libation, and off to bed. Was woken at the unearthly hour of 8am by Jeanette  :( :( :( and went out to tip the van. Reloaded it with tools for Monday, and got cleaned up. We set off in the car to Penmare Hall, via a couple of places I had to visit. Was it ever hot, and the aircon needs gassing. :( :( :( Anyhow, we arrived chez Penmare to find the lad and his family and the Hound of the Baskervilles disporting themselves in a state of deshabille in the Olympic Sized Swimming Pool!!!  :D :D The lives of the Rich and Famous, eh?
A quick lemonade ( Honest. ;) :D And it was very welcome ) a quick chat, pick up some gear the lad was kind enough to fetch for me, and off to the Ritz for dinner!! ( If it's good enough for Penmare........ :D :D )

Lovely dinner, and a lovely pint of Rutland Panther, a beautiful dark mild.
Across to Sheffield, to Daughter and Son in Law for our visit to Birmingham to see Rod Stewart. Contrary to previous information, it was not the NEC, but the National Indoor Arena. We arrived and parked up, and walked along the canal to dine. We ate in a place called Mash, or something. ( Penmare would like it, they do a dish with loads of Exotic Bangers. ) :D :D
Into the venue, and we were treated to a display of consumate showmanship, virtuoso performances from everyone on stage, and some good time Rock and Roll. ( And Soul, and Ballads, and just about everything else, except the new stuff, fortunately ) Stunning light show, all back projection, and mood lighting, no gyrating lights and blinders, fantastic.
His voice is nearly as good as it ever was, he's a bit short of breath at times, but he is getting on a bit. ;) , the backing musicians were flawless, and the entire crowd were on their feet for most of the concert. What a night. Fabulous.
Back home at about 2 am again ( can anyone see a pattern developing here? :D :D ) straight to bed, and up at 7am and off to Little Bro's garage to mend SS Continental Drift. Still baking sunshine, and I'm laid under a van removing and refitting a transit gearbox on my Jack Jones. Good fun eh? By 3pm, I was fading. 4.30 pm, propshaft mended, clutch changed, and I'm off home. Showered and fell asleep till now. I must be getting old. :p :p :p :p :p
