I have just done a search but cannot find an answer to my question. Can you use a single CA8 controller with lots of different Acme lighting such as an Impossibled and a pair of Dynamo scanners?

No - not at the same time.

Ok, that being the case. If people are using multiple CA8 controllers with their gear, how are they mounting them for use? Is there some sort of stand you can get that can be easily labelled? I use a Lil mix for my par cans so am looking for some sort of tidy solution.

Before anyone suggests it, 2 very young children are preventing me from learning DMX. I also don't want to be hunched over a laptop scratching my head at gigs, way too many good tunes to mix. :D

The Ilead controller (http://prolight.co.uk/item/isil01/?PHPSESSID=937a11fe52ead567b93d9b2232f30809) contains 2 x CA-8 controllers, but that depends if you have £150 spare. ;)

That is is actually not a bad suggestion, it means I can get my hand dirty with DMX at a later date. Does anyone use this as a DMX controller and if so, is it decent?

Beer and DMX? Not sure about that. Wine and Midi don't mix either.. :)

the issue i have with ca8 controllers is the cable attached is too long
first i thought of shortening it,but couldn't decide how long it should be.

solution to the problem build some wireless ca8 controllers.which also work with the american dj stuff as well

Wow, that is a genius solution! Are you willing to share your knowledge in exchange for some severe flattery? ;)

How do they work?

That looks like a really interesting concept and one that could be sold on here! ;)

work extremely well, just a 3 button remote fob to emulate the buttons on a ca8.
all parts from maplin and virtually no soldering.

i can't take the credit for the design as it was done by paul bouzan and featured in pro mobile no 29

Any chance you can describe the parts required and the process to make this? Thanks.

Or if someone has Promobile no 29...are you allowed to post it up?

Forgot to add.

Tony....the CA-8s have a magnetic strip on the back. Why not get a strip of metal that you can stick them onto, and use a sticky paper label and a biro...much cheaper.........

A friend of mine made a remote control for a smoke machine some years ago. It was great as the smoke machine could be put anywhere without trailing cables. Very much the same sort of thing as what's being shown here.
