A few months ago someone posted a link to a new mixer that had just come out on the market, it had a frequency crossfade facility.
I've tried searching the posts but no joy, I'm alomst certain it was on this forum that I saw it, anyone remember what it was?

They are very nice mixers, but im thinking my next mixer for playing around on will be the DNX1600 - purely because its miles ahead of anyone else with its midi capability.
JTRS, You realise that the 2000 isnt 19inch, and ive not came across rack ears for it....

Thats is not a singing desk! If you were singing and wanted top end you would be buying Allen & Heath.

Hold on guys. We dont know that JTRS is purely a mobile jock. He may have a fair amount club work too, i keep my home set-up current becaue if i turn up in a club thats using a new mixer, i want to be able to use it tro its full potential...
I know that the DJM2000 is becoming very popular when clubs move over to the CDJ2000 so you will increasingly start to see them...

Well, his profile says his business name is JTRS mobile discos & he's joined the mobile disco directory forum...so I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case.

But i to am a mobile DJ, and joined a Mobile Disco forum....but i still get regular work in clubs... ;)

Thats a good argument, having said that there is no way I could justify that kind of cash on a mixer even if I was still DJ'ing in Nightclubs!

Surprisingly not, I decided to spend the money on something sensible :)
All of the big clubs used to have CDJ's in them anway so I just used those in the clubs and had my trusty CMX 3000's for mobile stuff - simples :muppet:
One day I might understand why.

When I started DJing I bought equipment that would do the job, nothing too expensive and nothing that put me into debt. I really enjoy DJing so I'm ploughing my profits back into new kit, I figured I had two choices either pay more tax or have equipment that satisfies the gadget freak inside me.

Youve got to spend to your money on something,,
And at least with this industry if you spend it on fancy gadgets you can claim it as an expense ( well you know what I mean ).
Its not always all about business,, a lot of people see this DJ ing lark as a business AND a hobby, and I say good for them ...

Ahhh...so it's more important for you to have extremely expensive equipment than to make a reasonable profit from the discos?
Like you, I also really enjoy DJing, but unlike you I have no desire to plough my profits back into new kit.

Nope, I'm having both (reasonable profit and decent kit).
Given the choice between paying even more tax or having equipment that does the job AND gets a wow factor is a no brainer as far as I am concerned

Fair enough, but MY equipment also does the job.
As for getting the wow factor, if my EQUIPMENT was doing that rather than my SERVICE, I'd be really concerned.

Rob, it's horses for courses. Your equipment does what you require of it. If I recall from your previous posts, you don't PFL, you don't adjust channel gain pots and unless I'm mistaken I think you also said you don't even use headphones. Therefore, I imagine the most simple DJ mixer would fulfil your requirements.
I imagine Simon's style includes creative mixing, where he will utilise the feature-rich offering of a top end Pioneer mixer.

There seem to be plenty of people here who also do a lot of creative mixing, but I wonder how many of THEM spent nearly two grand on their mixer?
From what JTRS has said, it seems he's spent this much in order to give punters the wow factor when they SEE it...rather than NEEDING to spend this much in order to get a mixer with the sound quality & features he requires.

That's a part of it yes, I do want equipment that looks good and gets a wow factor, but the other side of the coin is that I wanted a mixer that had frequency crossfading and I remembered that someone had posted a thread on this forum about a mixer that was capable of doing that (and a few other things).

If I had a few grand to spend on a mixer I probably would - I'd imagine the sound quality from it is excellent. Nothing to do with being a gear snob or the wow factor (let's face it, how many clients actually see behind the decks?) For me it's about getting the best sound possible within my financial constraints. If money was no object I'd replace most of my system with superior quality components.

Budget gear = Fingers crossed + poor sound. IMO
Pro gear = Confidence + good sound....+ willy waving.....:D
