It started on Thursday when I was just loading the van ready for a school disco and my fiancé rings me and says she's getting pains (she's 22 weeks pregnant) (panic, panic!) and said she's spoken to the midwife and has to go to the hospital. I quickly load the van and drive to pick her up and take her to the hospital. She sees the midwife and all is fine with the baby but has to wait for the doc to see her. It's 4.15pm and 15mins after my intended arrival time for the disco and I call the lady who's booked me and says an emergency has happened but I will be getting to the venue ASAP and I'm really sorry.
I arrive at the venue at 5.10pm (10mins after I should have started). I had sent my mother to the venue before me to inform them I was on my way. The children were all running around in the hall but I managed to get setup in a record breaking 20mins. This wasn't the last of my problems though. The disco was going really good until 50mins before the end when the sound goes from my laptop and my attempts to reboot were not very good (I left my backup laptop at home in my haste to get away, after I said I would be taking it with me from now on). Luckily I got it back up and running in 10mins and the disco finished really well. The person who booked me and a number of others came up to me at the end and thanked me for a great show and were all asking how my fiancé was. She saw the doc and at 6.30pm and was given the all clear.
This was not the end of the problems though!
Friday evening and my fiancé is having trouble breathing. She hadn't been feeling too great since she had got up. The paramedic came and checked her out and then says she must go back to the hospital. So I follow them there and she is told that she has to stay in over night. She continued to have tests and I stayed with her until 4.30am Saturday until I said I will have to go as I needed some sleep because I had to be at a venue for 11am for the all day wedding I had on Saturday.
Well managed to get to the venue in time after checking how my fiancé was (still having pain but fine). I got setup and then the bride, groom and afternoon guests arrive about 12.30pm. Speeches, some disco and then karaoke follow until the evening. I have a break around 6.30pm and enough time to speak to the fiancé. I'm completely worried and a bit upset not to be with her but I know I got to be professional and the show must go on. The evening disco goes great but I am exhausted. I didn't get much sleep and visited my fiancé today only to be told she may have a clot on the lung and could be in hospital for some time. It never rains but it pours but at least I got to visit and be with her today.
I couldn't believe how well my disco went though as I was feeling very emotional. I seriously thought on occasions I wouldn’t get through them but thankfully I did .
