Buzzing noise from master channel

Hello guys,

I have just purchased a pair of Tapco Thump 15A Active speakers and they arrived yesterday. I also purchased a pair of phono to xlr leads to run my new active speakers as I only have rca out on the back of my mixer.

When I turn the master levels up on my speakers and then up on my kam mixer - I get a buzzing noise from the master channel. I used to have this noise on my old passive speakers running via a amp but not as bad as my active ones.

What do I need to do or buy to solve this problem?

Ground Loop Isolators. £9.99 from Maplins.

I have tried ground loop isolators but it doesn't make a difference to the buzzing noise.

You could have a dodgy lead then. Plug everything in, one lead at a time, see when the buzz occurs, could be a dry joint aswell.

It couldn't be a earth problem with the mixer could it?

Could be, but if it's only just started when you've got the new speakers, then I doubt it.

I had it on my passive speakers also.

With everything turned off, see if there's a ground lift switch on the mixer. Most amps have them also, worth trying permutations to see which is best. Don't know if there's one on actives. Always ensure all kit is switched off before changing.

Also start with nothing plugged in, then add one at a time till you find the hum.


When that doesn't work, ditch the Mam, and buy a Denon. I did.
