Great Night but I'm getting lazy

Had a great night last night in a barn in Radlett- lovely place literally in someones garden, but the real twist was that the groom was a concert promoter.

We did his 30th a few years ago and he completely draped the local cricket club to amazing effect.
Last night was even better- he arranged for the PA and lighting and we turned up with a playout rack, lazer and smoke machine.

We werent dissapointed- the bass bins were 5ft tall and we had 4 Crown Macro-Techs powering them. The lighting was 3 Martin EFXs on Manfrottos and 4 LED pars which were in a different league to anything I've seen before in terms of build and output.

It was pretty warm inside which lead to people staying outside until about 10pm but the last couple of hours was great with a full dancefloor. Only downer was people not wanting to finish- think we got offered £60 to play one more song a one stage but politely declined.

What it made me realise is that this game is a whole lot more enjoyable when someone does all the lugging of gear for you- I could get used to this type of gig more often!!

Looks good, and I totally agree with you comments.

That is the reason why at Christmas, with the exception of 5 corporate gigs, I am quite happy with a local residency I have.

I only play 1030 - midnight, and all the kit is installed, just plug the laptop or cortex in and away I go. Just to add to it, only 5 minutes drive from home.

I could probably earn more, maybe not much, but my body thanks me for it.

It's a great bonus when there's no carrying to be done!

I did a gig for Axeman (Bri) at Christmas last year which was simply a walk-in walk-out. When using other folk's kit it can be a bit daunting especially if you haven't used that kind of thing before. Luckily for me, Axeman had a twin-CD with basic mixer unit all cased together and running straight to an amp. This was the same kind of thing I cut my CD-DJing teeth on ten years ago and was simply a case of plugging in to the aux sockets at the back.

And not having to worry about packing up everything at the end meant I could concentrate on giving everyone a good night (which I think I did - after all, Axeman hasn't told me otherwise! ;) )
