Get paranoid when you're working and make up a whole conversation in your head of what the people staring at you are saying? or is that just me? :o

I'm a very paranoid person. I think it's good. It makes you more careful and determined to prove people wrong.
If I see three 60 year old women grumberling in the corner, I'll use my confidence to win them over - whether it's polite conversation, music choice or mention on the mic.
Use it to your advantage. ;)

...see three 60 year old women......what about if there's 4 of them? or maybe they're 20 years old? :p

You'll learn to control that to your advantage as you get older mate -
~ I think paranoia can be instructive in the right doses. Paranoia is a skill. ~

Yes...I often get paranoid. Funny thing is (and I'm sure others can do this), one of the things I have picked up over the years is how to lip read. It probably makes things worse to be honest as sometimes I wish I couldn't do it. I have seen people say some things and have actually heard others too and I feel myself go red with embarassment.

And even if you're not paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you. ;) :( :( :( :(

My wife is a Cognitive Therapist and deals with people that have all kinds of hang-ups and social phobias, it's very common to think people are talking about you or are plotting against you when they probably aren't... it's a real eye opener having a bit of professional insight. :D
As DJ's we are the entertainment so people will be naturally be looking our way and might be having a bit of a laugh about some aspect of our appearance or music choice or some other thing, it's human nature I guess? But just think, they might actually be making compliments not criticising. ;)
I conduct myself properly and do a good job so if people want to talk about me that's their issue not mine.. over the years I've grown quite a thick skin and believe I'm OK, I'm an alright person and a good DJ so I'm not really bothered about what others think too much, although it's nice to think it's good stuff they are thinking. :) :)

yep but i think its a good thing but its always at the start of the night really I had this thing for ages thinking a 7-12 disco should have people dancing from 7 til 12. Naturally after awhile you learn how people usually behave at gigs and you have more of a clue of what with work with certain crowds.
Im sure we've all had people request some awful track but you play it because they asked for it, for it to clear the floor and the person who requested it sits down too.
