Relatively cheap media player

Hi guys, just a quick question :)
Im looking to purchase a Media Player so i can stop using my laptop.
Anybody that can enlighten me on the cheapest but reliable would be a great help cheers.:D

We've recently added the Denon DN-F300 to our playback racks, relatively cheap and a lot of functionality packed into 1U

I personally recommend the Denon HD2500 player, though you'd be hard pushed to find it now as Denon has discontinued them :eek: There's one on eBay at the moment selling for less than £300 and has very hardly been used ;)

Are separate screens important? :confused: Does he want a machine free from hearing problems? Should it have a crate? Geddit?

Im thinking about going to back to cd and replacing the hd2500 with a Denon DN-D6000 so i might have my denon hd2500 up for sale as well. But im not sure what im doing yet. If i decide to ill let you know.

That'd DN-F300 is a great idea for backup (for one song anyway :eek: ) though admittedly a little expensive compared to the fully featured ADJ SD card players.

£149.00?? I think we might be looking at the new digital equivalent of the Numark CDN series ;)

That's a listing with a load of errors though:

1. D3 display (title, album, artist) - don't you mean ID3?
2. "The Kam KHD2000 is a very good quality back up player" - so it's not suitable for use as main playout then? Hmmm...
3. Anti-shock mechanism - on a solid state player, how does that work then??

Lol, I just read the manual (http://www.kam.co.uk/media/file/product/manual/kam_khd2000_web_manual.pdf) and it even states:
"Laser Diode Properties -
Material: Ga.-Al-As
Wavelength: 755-815 nm (25ºC)
Laser Output: continuous Wave max. 0.5mW"

I wonder what the laser does??? ;) Draws pictures on the ceiling? :)

I got one of these last week and can confirm it does what it says on the tin. It has been a long time since I have unboxed an item and had so much fun with it. At £199 it is a total bargain and a great panic button should my laptop decide to go south..

For a media player that's cheap AND reliable, I'd recommend a second hand Numark D2.

They come up on a certain auction site quite regularly.

Yes, having read the OP post again, I see where you're coming from and guess he may be after a DJ style player with two channels.

The F300 is great for acts that turn up with a memory stick as opposed to a MD or CD, which is becoming more common nowadays - and indeed prefererable as USB sticks seem to be better looked after.

The reloop media player has a a scroll button which allows you to scan through tracks with ease. There is a separate button for jumping between folders. It is very easy to find and cue a track within seconds. The loading time is quicker than virtual DJ which is surprising considering I am using class 2 memory cards with it.

I guess careful tagging and folder naming etc is vital then with this type of device - with a laptop search I'm lazy and can type in general terms to get ideas.

I would stick to the laptop + Virtualdj + Indigo Echo DJ sound card....much better than most media players imo

Sorry to go slightly off topic - as anyone used one of these. Seem a good product for backup, but not keen on KAM products personally.

Just a media player to play mp3's from a hard drive,one that has easy scroll and playlist functions.

Have you tried the Denon Peter ?? How did it compare to the cortex (apart from 3 times the price :D :D )

I am after a new machine and been considering joining the gear snobs and buying the HD-2500, alternatively may blow the whole budget and go for Pioneer, which I have had a play with and is very impressive.
