Before we start, I know absolutely nothing about DMX, hence the query.

I have been using the Acme Colourbursts with the Lil mix controller. No problems there. However I am now hoping to use 4 as uplighting behind me.

What dip switches control what ??? I am basically wanting to know what to press to get various colours - cyan, magenta, green, white etc etc. How to control the brightness and also how to make them fade between colours (at different speeds).

If anyone can explain this in very simple terms for a thicko, would be much appreciated. :beer1: :beer1:

Will you still be using the Lil Mix Chris? If so, all you need is dip switches 1 & 10 on, on all the units and daisy chain the DMX in and out of each of the 4 units.

The Lil Mix isnt so much a proper DMX controller. Its more like a master/slave operation, with it being the master and just telling the other, actual lights, what to do. Hence theres no need requirement proper DMX addressing.

Manual is pretty handy...

pages 7 + should do what you require... unless you use the lil mix as stated previous.
Enjoy

If you aren't using the Lil' Mix with them and want them all to do the same thing (colour fade etc) then just connect them all togeather and leave the dipswitches on 1 and 10 and they will all copy eachother. If you don't want to connect them all togeather and are using just 4 units. Connect them all to the same extension lead, leave the dipswitches all up (so nothing is selected) and just turn the switch on at the wall and they will all copy eachother.

Chris, out of interest...why arnt you using the Lil Mix? I would make life easier imo.

Anyway, from the manual (and the top of my head because ive not had chance to go to the lockup yet)...

To access the inbuillt programs...

1. make sure number 9 is On, and number 10 is off.
2. Numbers 1, 2 & 3 (and combinations of, i.e. 1, 2 on, 3 off... 1 off, 2,3 on etc) assign the different patterns. Youll just have to have a play about with combinations of these three switches to see what patterns/program they generate.
3. Once you have found your prefered pattern/program, switches 4 through to 8 control the speed. 4=Very Fast, 5=Fast, 6=Medium, 7=Slow, 8=Very Slow. You can only have one of these switches on at any given time, so dont try and put switches 4 & 8 on together for example.

If you want static colour mixing, start with all of the dip switches off, 1 through to 3 controls the red LEDs, 4 through to 6 controls the Green LEDs and 7 & 8 controls the Blue LEDs.

The reason for having banks of switches to control each colours is that you can vary the intensity. I.e Put 1, 2 & 3 on, and you get the red LEDs at full intensity. Switch off number 3, and the intensity drops.

So you want purple... Put switches 1, 2 & 3 (for full red intensity) and 7 & 8 (for full blue intensity) and you get purple. If you want your purple to be more bluey, switch off one of the dip switches for the red.

Remember, if your linking them up master/slave, on the master unit, have 9 on and 10 off (as you have to for the pattern select anyway), but daisy chain and on the other units, ave all the switches to off...except number 10.
