Is it possible to enjoy dancing to it when it looks like you have to concentrate so bloody hard to get the steps right?

Normal dancefloors for northern soul would be to see it covered in talcum powder to help the slide.

Peterborough area still has at least 12 northern Soul clubs actively operating functions.

same as mod / ska music talk about strange steps The mod stuff gradually turned into Northern Soul, but was far less complicated, as for the pure ska stuff ????????? must've changed since my day? It ain't hard to moonstomp!

I want all you skinheads to get up on your feet
Put your braces together and your boots on your feet
And give me some of that old moonstomping

Get ready, we got three million miles to reach the moon
So let's start getting happy now
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah

Hmmm, i have nothing to add to this post, except...

I've never been asked for it.

As the "law of sod" is quite clear about these things, perhaps someone could post a quick "who's-who's" on what to play.

TA! :teeth:

Here's a few...

Al Wilson - The snake
Dobie Gray - Out on the floor
Frank Wilson - Do I love you
Gloria Jones - Tainted love
Just Brothers - Sliced tomatoes (Fatboy Slim nicked the riff for Rockafella skank)
Laura Green - Moonlight, music and you
Robert Knight - Love on a mountain top
Flirtations - Nothing but a heartache

Most of these can be found on any Northern soul greatest hits type CD.

Try buying Classic Cuts 34 and 68 (I think) at least you can say I have some have a look at these in the event as Northern is a very difficult one - some tracks are that rare that they are worth 1000s of pounds on vinyl.

iTunes in the genre section has good listing ... remeber there being one for northern soul.

You get 3 sections from memory listing about 25 songs per section

basic
next
rare
then an all option
