End of Term School Quiz

My year are doing the End of Term Quiz this year, and I have been given the task of making up the music round.

I am planning to play a clip of the track and they write down both the artist and song title. I have a few ideas for songs, but the problem is both first years (13 year olds) and teachers (30, 40, 50, 60+ years old) so the tracks have to be suitable for all ages. There has been complaints in previous years due to tracks that nobody knows.

Also, we are looking for some fun game type things to play at random points throughout the afternoon. For example, before everyone arrives, stick a sticker under one seat, then sometime during the afternoon announce that whoever has a sticker under their seat has won a prize. It makes everyone stand up and makes it a bit more interactive.

Any more ideas?

Music is always a problem to do, in the pub quiz I run I have learnt that you cannot possibly please both young and old.

If it's a one off music quiz try doing music from adverts and asking them which advert it is from, or music from TV theme tunes.

Trying to pick a a decade or a genre is a non starter, if it really has to be music then pick an equal amount from each decade ie 2 from the 60's 70's 80's 90's and the 00's, that way you can at least argue that you catered for everyone.

Alternatively, try getting some well known tracks from someone like ABBA etc and playing the track backwards etc.

For an impromptu game try this........

5 Lives, - You ask a series of questions and they have to deduct a life everytime they can answer YES, when someone loses all 5 lives they shout out and come to you for a prize. You can make the questions fun and a bit risque ie....

If you have ever played truant deduct a life

If you have ever copied someone else'e homework deduct a life

So aim a few at the kids

But alternate them with ones aimed at the teachers like....

Deduct a life if you have ever been too drunk to find your way home

Deduct a life if you have ever two timed a partner

Throw in a few from left field that nobody would ever be expected to lose a life for ie Deduct a life if you have ever been arrested (etc)

Everyone will be wondering who the first person to lose all 5 lives will be, but the fun is that they don't know exactly what they lost the lives for.

That's worked well everytime I have done it.
