What a weird question

Have just been asked a very strange question from a corporate client through the agent and it has me baffled as to why.

The client has booked my for a large corporate video disco in Heathrow at one of the hotels and has asked if I can supply a haze machine as well.

The client is the hotel and have asked the agent to ask me if the haze machine tank and fluid have a kitemark symbol on them.

The machine I have is the Chauvet version of the QTX1000 and need to dig it out to check.

Has anyone any idea why they would ask this?

I imagine some of the larger Hotels are doing plenty of back covering these days.

If it bears the British standard kitemark the venue should be happy you're using safety approved kit and not some cheap foreign rubbish.

No they havent asked for anything else at all. It is a large hotel.

It simply means the device has been tested to British standards by the British Standards Institution (BSI) which are generally regarded as being the hardest to achieve safety ratings.

I would take a guess that your client takes health and safety very seriously. Perhaps they already know all about your PLI, PAT, etc from your agent?

Why haven't they asked about every other bit of kit then. Surely that is just as important in that case?

It may just be that they hve had a problem with a Hazer at a previous event and all they are doing is covering all their base's.

I know that the local Fire Brigade around here will charge a venue/hotel £1,000 fine, if they are called out to a false alarm, that was self inflicted ! !

It could be but they were the ones that asked if I could supply a haze machine. Normally I wouldnt bother with this type of venue because of the risk to setting off alarms.

i would say because your taking basically a kettle into a venue that could if not working properly shot hot fluid over people.in the past there was a HSE leaflet about this and they need the info for their RA

That I can understand, have just been over the our local dealer who sell top end kit, and asked them about it. Not one of there machine or fluid has a kite mark

I think it's an attempt to put in place a builletproof covering to what might otherwise be an exposed posterior. ;)

I thought that the BSI kitemark had for some time been replaced by the CE mark, conformance to European Safety Standard ?? :confused:
