Help with starting off as a full time DJ

Hi people,
As someof yu will know at the moment I mainly do voluntry disco for charities and local youth centres apart fromwhen I'm filling in for a local DJ at my local.

Well in just over a month I will be getting my first car so I'll be able to go further and do more jobs. So I've decided to do it as a propper business. My mum used to do my stepdads accounts so she going to sort all that out all I need is to make sure I got the right forms, licenses and T&C.

The youth centre I volunteer at has paid my PLI and PPL. Are there any other licenses I will need?
Also any chance someone could help me out with a booking form that I could use? and also what would I be best to have in my T&C?

How do you play your music? CD, media player, laptop? Do you format shift your music? If so then you will need Produb.

You don't actually need the ppl license as 99.9% of venues will have the MCPS Music license already to cover music being played in the hall.

Although you don't have to have PAT it's good practice to have it.

Also, going on your post above, not sure if you are just typing quickly, but spell and grammar check everything.

I was shattered haha.

I play the music just using 2 laptops with VDJ and yes all my equipment is PAT tested as it all gets tested when the youth centres equipment is checked.

If you want some terms & conditions which have been checked by a solicitor and aren't too long or wordy, you're welcome to look at mine & adapt them for your own requirements, but I'd be grateful if you didn't do a straight cut & paste like some people have! http://www.robjamesentertainment.co.uk/terms.htm

With regards to booking forms, mine ask for the following information:

Client's name & address
Client's telephone number (evening)
Client's telephone number (mobile)
Client's email address
Occasion
Names of bride & groom (weddings only)
Function date
Venue name & address
Venue telephone number
Approx number of guests
Start time
Finish time
Daytime set up? Yes/No
Total cost
Deposit
Balance
Additional information/Instructions

At the bottom of the form is the following declaration "I have read and understood the terms & conditions of business on the reverse of this booking form, and agree to adhere to them. I also confirm the receipt of a separate copy of these for my own records" under which they must sign the form, print their signature & date the form.

I if its just you working but if its a multi-op etc etc. it would be we.

I use "we" rather than "I", as the information relates to myself as the main DJ and also my back up DJ.
