'Reasonable' time for repair.

What do YOU think is a reasonable amount of time to give for the repair of an item still under warranty (or less than one year old) ??

Trading standards recommend a 'reasonable' time but what would you class as reasonable from handing over the item to receiving it back repaired ??

I would call 2 weeks reasonable and I would call more than 6 weeks very unreasonable.

2 weeks nominal 4 weeks max any more than its extracting the urine.

First bit is correct and am expecting the wait to be quite some time. It was a similar item to the one I text you about earlier.

very much depends on the item in question really, who its going to and other external matters....

I would be very happy with a turn around of two weeks..

Ask Trading standards--they always seem happy to get heavy with unhelpful retailers in my experience:D :D :D

If it goes beyond a reasonable length of time. There's good chance it could be deemed to be what manufacturers refer to as B.E.R. Beyond enconimical repair.

In that case your statutory rights then kick in. I.E. you should be given a brand new one if it's still under warranty, or a full refund.

On the term "reasonable time" there are no hard and fast rules. If my memory serves me right Trading Standards have said up to 6 weeks can be deemed reasonable but it all depends on the product being repaired and the other factors.

My mate put his nearly new hazer into the shop where he bought it (a mate of his), they gave him one to use until his was returned in working order from the manufacturer. He still hasn't had his back and still has the loan machine. Looks like he is just keeping the loan machine !

why complain, at least the guy is able to have a machine to use.
A lot of suppliers take the unit off you and say tuff luck.
