**Sorry if this is in the wrong place mods. I couldn't see the Venues forum. Please move it to the right one if need be.**
I have just taken 3 hours to set up a Disco and minimal uplighting for a wedding tonight in a venue I have never been to before. I would usually arrange a visit to the venue but the owners have been away and were very hard to get hold of so on this occasion I didn't get to see it beforehand.
It's a lovely big historic house around 8 miles from me and in the grounds is a marquee. The venue is called PAMBER PLACE.
I know it doesn't help with the weather being mega hot at the moment and I am absolutely soaked through with sweat now.
Access is unbelievably bad. The owners direct you to a small gate that goes up a winding little rough track through trees. If you are in a car then it's not as bad. If you have a LWB transit like me then no chance. You can get to around 200m away from the marquee if you put your side mirrors in and go very careful. I had to walk with my equipment around 200m.
As I said, it's a very nice place and the owners are obviously very proud of it. I say this because I was asked if I would be using a trolly go get my equipment to the marquee. When I answered yes I was asked if I could wheel it under the marquee straps so that I wouldn't mark the lawn!!
So...if you get an enquiry for this venue...go and check it out first and bear in mind the access before you quote a price. This is a good payer for me but I should've added on a bit extra because of the awkwardness of getting in.
I am dreading getting the equipment out because it will be pitch black!
