View Full Version : How many disco's do you actually run

Have a disco

Just out of curiosity no lying as its not worth it.

Do you want to have more than 1 show or are you happy just doing the one show not wanting any more hassles in a night that the one you do

I have been asked to supply more than one disco but I am happy to spread the work about on a like for like basis

put your vote to the poll 31 days before it closes

My dad and I just run the one setup, although as and when I take it over, i am looking to expand the business by running a few extra rigs, along with the rig we are currently running.

Better to expand the business that way as you will hopefully pick up more bookings the more rigs and DJs to operate them that you have...but not always the case!

Why?

At least your being honest mate dont outstetch your self when that time comes... I have run 6 discos all at the same time it was pandamonium especially over xmas hence I went into full time DJing in clubs for a long time

Its just a poll soundtracker

So you own 6 seperate rigs?

I wouldn't opt to have more than 5 roadshows when i do eventually expand, as like you said, i would be outstretching myself just a little, creating chaos and pandamonium in the process :)

However, and in my honest opinion, i reckon a total of 3 roadshows with DJs running them, would be suffice at the start, possibly opting to employ other DJs with their own rigs if business really did take off!

I might be getting too carried away here...so only time will tell!

no I Once ran 6 different show for someone 18 years ago.

Now I have one show which can go out in 6 different guises to accommodate customer needs. `I have no real intention on expanding any further but may start hiring out PA systems.

Am more interested in getting into licenced trade industry, then work towards running my own nightclub. the disco is just a short term thing I could do in my own premises when I get to that stage wether a hotel or a public house, as to save costs I would have my own entertainments systems already sorted. but til then I will promote myself and the disco to death

Badger if you only run one disco, what's the Have - a - disco umbrella all about then?

Not quite. Paul James is Paul's stage name, always has been.

As you can imagine, the number of people 'assuming' I am James :omg:

So what do you vote for if you only have one rig yourself but pass work onto other DJs under your name (and they use their own equipment).

That would be the essential flaw in the poll Dan.

You know reading back through looks just like the mods and admin are doing no more than take the **** out of Have a disco ......almost ganging up on him

The guy is just trying to promote some conversation etc
I would have thought he should be applauded rather than whats going on here

Now I have one show which can go out in 6 different guises to accommodate customer needs.

I think this explains all and yes I do umbrella other disco's and DJ's whom borrow my gear as and when needed.

Thanks stingo but this has been an on going power thing for some people, whom just cant handle a good debate into some simple questions, even as simple as one like this. Im beginning to think the bigger guys are smaller than there title depicts.

Back to the point at hand. In general how many or is the maximum bookings could say you take for one night? with the gear I have its 1 so I can only do 1 per night without passing work but I take bookings for 2 at new year as I pass one regularly to another under my umbrella. A contractual job has to be covered whatever......

Im happy with 1 disco which can increase or decrease in size according to the customers needs read my site more carefully guys!!!

you lot are no better than the people you supposedly moderate
in fact in many ways you are worse ,
Its not the first time Ive seen the same people have a dig at him

and the "I asked a civil question" answer really is quite poor

Why is it that most of you always seem to have a pop and a dig at Badger?
Is it really necessary?
It seems to be some kind of trend.

Just my point of view.

I dunno which one to pick, I have about 1.8 sets of equipment :teeth:

Plus I work for other companies, and in venues with their own setup etc..

Also, I apologise if I was one of the people 'taking a pop at you', Wabbit (which I probably was :embarasse )

It's just sometimes, as in this case, you set yourself up for it - ie. marketing yourself as a company which puts out several shows a night

I know how you feel I could put out 2 if I hire a bit more gear in Im at the 1.5 stage LOL

The webpage is a selling tool and was worded cleverly by Wolfie to my future desires

I also work for other companies as and when the work comes in. But I only ever go out in my own name. I made that mistake quite sometime ago I will hand out the other persons cards but mine come as well thats business

I have 3 other disco's alongside me under Have-A-Disco Banner, Wall of Sound and Soundwaves so theoretically I can do more than 1 disco, but we share the work out depending on whom's disco is requested

That's exactly how I work, I work closely with other companies and DJs - like a syndicate of discos :)
