Which Amps?

Hi Guys!

Looking into purchasing other amps and have been offered 3 brands from my local DJ store, currently Im using Stageline STA1100 amps which have served me well over the past 2 years, I have now decided to put these to rest as backups. The 3 amps I have looked at are:

1) Samson PG 3800

2) Behringer EP4000

3) T.Amp TA2400

The store says all 3 amps are well built and reliable but he recommends the Samson PG 3800?? I have heard good reviews about the Behringer EP4000 and the T.Amp 2400 but not samson, are samson a good stable and reliable amp? or would you say Behringer or T.Amp?

No first hand knowledge of 1) and 2).
I have the C-Mark version of 3) and rate it highly.

Hi we have a T.amp2400 and T.amp1500 both very well built and work very well. Along with the 3 year warranty makes for good value. If you do buy one dont forget to get a case for it to keep it protected.

I have always used Crown and until recently, a Peavey (which is now elsewhere). I have just purchased a Cerwin Vega and it's great. I don't know the 3 amps that the shop has recommended but if they are around the same prices as the Crown and Cerwin Vega then I can definitely recommend them for their price....I hope that makes sense, it's been a tough day today.

Didn't bother checking the first two, but a T Amp is around £230 from Thomann.
A Cerwin Vega 2800 is around £100 dearer, and a Crown XLS802 about £200 dearer. I reckon these are the closest matches spec wise.

They have quoted £320 + VAT for the samson, £300 + VAT for the T.Amp and £370 for the Behringer (not sure if this includes VAT).

Personally for the price of that Behringer I dont think thats a great deal........

For that price can pick up much better amps, for example Ive picked up Numark 2500 and Peavey 1500 for little over a 100 quid and both have never let me down after nearly 3 years of operating.

I have personally never heard of Samson.

Have never used their amps.... but have used a Samson MPL2242 mixer for a number of years. If the amps are of the same build quality & reliability, you have nothing to worry about. :)

Thats what i did, but i had a slight problem with my 1st one,

It didnt power up and it just said fault, so i sent it back and they fixed it but only one channel worked, so i sent it back again and asked for a new one, and they said i could and since that Ive not had a problem for over a year now, spot on and very loud heavey mind.

they also paid of postage every time.

This is why its good to "get in" with your local store....

Mainly because they'll tell you if something is really good, can you be sure they arent just trying to shift stock and hence why they are offering you these?

Plus when you do get friendly with them then you'll be one of the first to know about new products etc... :D
