Wedding Fayre questions

I've got a call this evening to discuss us attending wedding fayre in October and I'm writing a list of questions.

It's in a fairly small local venue, where it's been held twice before (6 monthly). I'm thinking along these lines:

How many brides have previously attended?

Why did the DJ who did last October not attend the February fayre? (and I assume he's not doing this one either?)

Can we get exclusivity on being the only DJ company in attendance?

Do you require any PA hire, maybe in lieu of stand costs?

Do you ask brides on your mailing list if you can pass their details to third parties, and would you be willing to pass on/sell any potential leads?

Anything obvious I've missed?

Also ask for proof as often a lot of false promises are made. I attended one previously attended by 270 brides (allegedly) and 14 turned up :confused:

Also look at the 'type' of DJ and his presentation skills. A lot of people give great performances but lack in business skills.

Not strictly neccesary. If you have a good stand and the other DJ/s are poor it puts you in good light.

Always a good idea, but think of the work involved and if you are able to man the stall at the same time - check requirements.

A lot of wedding fayres give out addresses / emails lists of brides attended, which I find invaluable.


Also ensure you are allowed to take what you are taking ie lights, stand etc (if you are using them).

Look at the venue. A 'cheap' venue will bring 'cheap brides'.

Check on space and location of your stand and whether brides will 'walk past' or the natural flow of traffic will guide them round your stand.

Ensure you are not beside a band or other entertainment - Photographers and cake stands I find are good to be next too as people 'hang around' these stands longer, the groom gets bored and comes to talk to you :D :D

Most of the questions seem to have been covered.

Location is critical. What I tend to do is turn up as one of the if not the first supplier there so you can "adjust" anything around you you don't want ;) Also the times I've been next to / near the Chocolate fountain have been good times.

Try and find out how the fayre is being marketed. A banner outside is not as good as say a radio & newspaper campaign.

Don't worry too much about exclusivity....people buy people!

With the date of the fayre have a check to see which other venues are doing Wedding fayres in the area that day it may sound daft but if there's 3 or 4 on that's a good thing as the B & G's will normally do a "round robin" .

Anything else just ask.

The venue is nice, small/medium but expensive so should attract the right crowd ;o)
