Hi all,

Just wanted to flag this up...

I have just had call from someone, she didn't say where she was from but it sounded like a call centre...
Caller - "Could I speak to the owner please?
Me - "Hello, the owner of what?"
Caller - "Er..the owner of Shake Make Productions"
Me - "Sorry, it's Shakermaker Promotions. Can you tell me what this is about as this is my work number".
Caller - "I'm from a company that can promote your business on Facebook. Have you heard of Facebook and do you use it?"
Me - "Yes, I already use Facebook to promote my business".
Caller - "Ok, thanks for your time".

Strange call. I don't see what the point of it was. Surely everyone has the ability to promote their business on Facebook etc so why use a company to do it for you?

I'm sure a few of you will get the same call.

I'm sure a few of you will get the same call.

I already have...a week or two back.

I politely said "I'm not interested, but thanks anyway. Bye" and hung up.

Had a similar call a few weeks back.

I suppose there could be someone out there that hasn't thought about / heard of advertising on Facebook and no doubt these wonderful cold callers would exploit them.

Slightly off topic but speaking of cold callers some :muppet: from Anglian windows just knocked on my door and said "I can see you've got new windows and doors but will you be replacing them soon"  :muppet:

I gave him a nice sarcastic reply so he asked if there was anything I would be interested in doing to the house soon to this he was greeted with "Yes, I'm thinking of putting a wind turbine in my garden" his reply "Oh, we don't do them" and he walked off :muppet: :muppet: :Censored:

It was me pulling your leg Gary!

Seriously, I find the Call Blocker app invaluable for the BlackBerry, no doubt there are similiar apps for I Phone etc.

I have blocked a fair few cold callers etc, I want to do the SELLING to potential clients, not be SOLD to....

When I first started out, I was getting calls DAILY.... Now it's bi-weekly....

I had the Facebook call the other day. Couldn't get a word in. She finally took a breath and I asked how much. £149.00 per month!!!!

I politely told her that I could advertise elsewhere for a whole year on the monthy cost and she put the phone down!

What a cheek :P

Whether she meant advertisements on there or just setting up a fanpage, I don't know, but when advertising, most people go to the advertising, the advertising doesn't come to them - same with double glazing.
