I'm registered with uk-disco and had an enquiry for a 30th Birthday at Wootton Hall Police HQ - seems a little odd to have a disco there, do you not agree?

Reply back to the enquiry says that you need more information.ask for size of hall,number of people attending ,access to hall for getting your gear in ect.

if you get a reply back then it probably is a genuine enquiry.

That's right, the Watford police station had a social club and also use to be in the local snooker league.

I've done a fair number of gigs over the years at our local police H.Q.
Security can be a little high at times - if you get the gig they'll probably want your vehicle details in advance etc.
I also had an enquiry for a police venue via UK Disco last year but didn't get the gig.

I had the same enquiry come through on UK-Disco. There is a hall, right next to Wooton Police (my mates Mum is part of the Police Force there) - I've been to a Birthday Party there before.

I did a function at a Police headquarters in Surrey about 10 years ago and I have to say, they were the biggest bunch of party animals that I have ever come across. It was a great night.... apart from the blowout on the M25 on the way there but there was 3 of us and we got it sorted and arrived on time.

The Police force still has active social clubs and organise a lot of parties so I'd say it'd be a genuine enquiry. Go for it! Never let an opportunity pass you by!

The inspections were fairly cursory years ago. Nowadays, I suspect they're quite rigorous.

Done one at an RAF base before. I was going to ask the guard on the main gate which way to the missiles, but judgeing the size of the machine gun he was holding, I decided to keep those remarks to my self :o

I did one last year and they were polite and just wanted my basic details and van details before the date. They checked me and then gave me a pass. Couldnt of been nicer and nothing short I'd expect from the MOD.

I'm not saying they're not nice, just that security can be rather heavy.

I worked at an army venue a couple of years ago where I had to take photo id with me, I was interviewed about who I was & why I was there etc, had my photo taken, was given two passes (one for me & one for my van) and the van was given the once over, including underneath & under the bonnet!

Unfortunately, I'm back at the same venue for another wedding next month.
