Hi all, just joined and looking for a bit of pro advice on the following.

Currently using Mac wit VDJ hooked up to the hercules rmx. Looking to make this a back up and upgrade to something a bit more professional and versatile as my main system.

This is the only set up iv used over the past 3 years and its dead easy to use and not too many features etc so have been looking at the following options

Pioneer DJM 5000 mixer and the upcoming Amercian DJ VMS 4

My question regarding the DJM Mixer is can it be used solely with the Mac or do you need the MEP 700 linked to mixer or similar device as the DJM5000 obivously doesnt have the jog wheels/cue/play buttons that the rmx has, so would everything be done through the laptop.

I want to get the MEP700 at a later date but cant afford whole thing in one go so if anyone has used the DJM5000 on its own with a laptop your advice would be appreciated

Cheers all

Welcome to the forums.

The DJM5000 is just a mixer, so you could connect the mac straight into it and control using the mouse/keyboard, but would ideally need some kind of controller - MEP, HC4500 etc. to manipulate the music.

Ok cheers for that.

Can anyone recommend a mid price range system that has everything i need as the Pioneer wouldnt get much change from £2k.

Alternatively im happy to purchase the DJM 5000 as its my preferred option but i would have to wait about a month until i can purchase the MEP. If its not too much of an irritation to use the laptop in the meantime then it should be ok for a month hopefully.

Also does the MEP come with the CD players?

Welcome Phil.

The new CDJ350/DJM350 combination may be worth a look, it's certainly well within your budget.

Ah... a question for me :D

The DJM 5000 is fully MIDI mappable, so there is no reason why you can't map VDJ controls to the mixer (IE pitch to one fader, play to a button etc....) but it's not ideally laid out to use all night, but it can be done. The DJM 5000 has three audio INS and one audio OUT, all done through one USB.

An MEP would be the perfect choice, and works VERY well together! I've been using the both from launch of the DJM 5000.

Any other questions on the Pioneer range, just shout, as I know a fair amount of info on them ;)
