I had two childrens parties booked today, the first one cancelled early this morning because the birthday boy was involved in an accident yesterday, they rang last night to cancel but I was out working.
Having spoken to them this morning and found out he is OK (apart from a broken leg) I decided not to charge them and I'm sending them their deposit back. I know some of you might not agree with this but under the circumstances I felt it was only fair, and the time they had me booked for was unusually early so it's not like I've lost any business because nobody else has ever wanted a party that early so I know I haven't turned anyone away for this slot.
I tend to treat others as I would like/expect to be treated and if that had happened to my kids then I'd remember a DJ that refunded/didn't charge and go out of my way to recommend them.
Having said all that, whilst I've been at home this morning instead of at this party I've taken two bookings, yes I know they could have left messages and yes I know I could have rung them back and still possibly secured their bookings but sometimes people don't like leaving messages and maybe, just maybe they could have booked someone else who was able to take their calls. So, I'm putting these two down to Karma.
