Following last years successful stint at a wedding fayre that I did, I was mega happy to have October of all months almost fully booked (a couple of residencies to slot in and it would have been).
Yesterday I had 2 emails, both from bookings that I have for October (9th and 16th). The first email for October 9th cancelled the booking. The reason being is that they are no longer togeather. Booking fee paid ages ago and I am hoping I can fill the date again.
The second email was for the following week at a very nice venue that I do regularly. The reason this time was that they have decided to delay the wedding until April 2011. They have also paid their booking fee and have asked if they can re-schedule with me. They said that everything was proving to be far too expensive (I didn't need to know the details did I?) so had cancelled the venue and were still getting married on the same date but they were going abroad to do it and the re-scheduled date in April will be a party at a different venue.
I am going to mail them back today but am not sure what to put really. They have paid their booking fee...fine but it was for 16th October. I have 2 bookings in April 2011 at the moment so do you think I should tell them the dates that I am booked and see if they can provisionally book a different one with me? I am thinking along the lines of telling them that all is ok, their booking fee has been paid and the balance due can be paid in April. I will also issue new booking forms etc.
I haven't had many cancellations but 2 in one day is a bit weird. Do they come in 3's?
